I find it difficult to understand why this business has made certain decisions in the visual merchandising, product choice and vibe of the bakery.
First i will start off with the good: The bagels, fresh bread and bread rolls are fantastic. The iced donuts and cinnamon donuts are also really good. The chocolate mud-cake is to die for and is a fantastic occasion cake, beautiful and reasonably priced.
The bad: The store is completely vibe-less. No music, poorly laid out, lacking important elements to draw people in. The only choice of drinks is coke and water, which is INSANE for a bakery that sells pies and savouries. What about orange juice ? Strawberry milk? Even a coffee machine would be a good idea at this point.
The opening hours are mind boggling. 9:30-3pm on a Saturday, 9:30-4:30 every other day. Why not do 8-2 instead ? Who opens a bakery at 9:30am? This is crazy to me!
Putting the smallest amount of effort into the visual merchandising would go a long way !! They could be stacking the shelves with cute looking jams and other packaged gf treats so that people would be able to put together a gf hamper in store. Instead the massive frozen section just looks unappetising. I feel like these people are massively fumbling the bag.
As others have pointed out, the products are HIT AND MISS. We got a bar cake that was completely stale. The brownies are a flop, the biscuits look rock hard. Itās a shame because the Kew location is a great set up and makes perfect sense, im not sure why this store is always emitting a horrible vibe.
To the owners: please hire someone to help you make the store more appealing. You have some fantastic products but they are not shining through in your store that has the atmosphere of a dental surgery. Get some music playing and bring in a little table and chairs for gods sake. You have the huge advantage that there is nowhere else closeby to buy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI AM NOT GLUTEN FREE, my wife on the other hand is. I bought a range of stuff to get in the good books as it's hard to find good gluten free products and I must say I ate the same meals as my wife and OMG, AMAZING!!! Pies where great, dumplings were to die for, bread was the best we have had (our kids refuse to eat gluten free bread they actually asked for 2nds of this bread). Hedgehog slices, my wife is requesting a tray please!!! The chocolate brownie was more like a moist sponge cake and not a brownie but Seriously still really really good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FROM A GLUTEN FREE PICKY EATER AND ALSO A NON GLUTEN FREE PERSON WHO REALLY DOESNT LIKE GLUTEN FREE FOODS. Will definitely be returning. If I had to say something negative it would be the price but all gluten free foods are expensive and wasn't any more expensive then anywhere else, just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSelling old food without alerting customers. I bought this quiche at full price on Saturday 21 October 2023, unaware that it was already 10 days past its best before. Today I cooked it and found some weird black thing inside after eating 95% of it. I then checked the packaging and found the date had passed. Have since looked at all the items I bought that day and everything is past its 'best before'. I expect a cafe to sell fresh food, not stuff that could potentially be off. I am a new mum and breastfeeding, now totally worried I have consumed something that could make me very sick. The woman serving me on Saturday said nothing about all the old food they are selling, feel ripped off and deceived. I shouldn't have to check the expiry on food sold at a cafe that claims...
