Hủ Tiếu Gõ Ông Mập has queues lining outside on Ballarat Road for a reason. Cheap AFFORDABLE and AUTHENTIC Vietnamese food.
They are the FIRST to serve KNOCK NOODLES in Australia. And their Beef Balls are all housemade fresh every week. Their seafood like snails, cockles and scallops are so fresh! Reminds me fondly of my trip to Vietnam years ago.

✨ The snails were definitely so much fresher and bigger than the ones I had in Vietnam. And that GARLIC BUTTER sauce was so good with the Banh Mi. There’s so much seafood in the salad too. Highly recommend getting the $120 combo it’s so WORTH IT there’s so much food we even had to take home. Aside from that the MARINATED GRILLED PORK was THE BEST I had. Juicy and flavourful, get it with rice or the vermicelli salad. You...
Read moreAvoiding the lunch rush, I once visited this restaurant at 3 PM, yet it was still packed with discerning diners. If you're familiar with Vietnamese cuisine and want to explore dishes beyond pho and bun, this place won’t disappoint.
Snails are a must-try here, as they’re not commonly found in other Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne. The tamarind sauce is tangy and appetizing, perfect with rice, while the coco cream version is infused with the aroma of lemongrass, making it ideal to pair with bread or fried dough sticks for dipping.
The pork and prawn papaya salad is crisp and refreshing. If you prefer other proteins, the variations of green papaya salad are equally delightful.
The stewed beef noodles were a standout. Tender beef and tripe are soaked in a mildly spicy and tangy broth, with noodles that make this dish absolutely satisfying.
The combination char siu salted egg noodles is a dry noodle dish where you can choose between egg noodles or instant noodles, tossed in a slightly spicy sauce. It’s topped with beef tendon balls, greens, and salted egg yolk meatballs.
For first-timers unsure of what to order, go with the safe choices like grilled pork spring roll vermicelli or broken rice—you can’t go wrong with these...
Read moreSaw this place on my way to work, got takeaway vermicelli salad from here couple of weeks ago Food was pretty tasty and reasonably priced but several customer service points that could be improved upon. Restaurant was newly opened for 2 days so I will give them benefit of doubt and see if they improve next time At that time they didn't have a menu or website. I had to walk into store to put my order in because I didn't know menu items or price Took 25-30min to make my vermicelli salad. Normally with asian takeaway I expect fast service within 15min. They really should warn people if it will take that long, lunch breaks have limited time and people need to get back to office. They don't have credit card payment set up, if you want to pay without cash you have to directly wire money into owner's account via his payID which worked fine but is just a tad dodgy looking and unprofessional Restaurant very cramped inside, social distancing would be hard to implement, and I saw no check in sheet/QR code for sitting customers to sign in to
I will give them 4 stars for now and go back in a few weeks but if they haven't improved the above issues by then I will probably dock them...
