Came here for dinner (21/7/23) with a few friends and my baby. What a big let down considering the reviews were great. We left pretty disappointed after our experience.
Let’s start off with the fact we had booked a table online and had written in the notes we needed space for a pram. Upon arrival, we find out they have put us upstairs. Now here lies the problem as there is no accessibility to upstairs other than the stairs themselves. So my partner had to carry the pram up two flight of stairs, in a very busy and packed restaurant. Once upstairs seeing how small and crammed it was, it was very hard to navigate our way to our table in the very back corner.
Upon a few minute of settling and sitting down we did get offered drinks and entrees to start with but then soon after that it just went downhill. The service and the lack of attention from wait staff was terrible. It was very hard to flag down staff to order our mains and more round of drinks. Also there a miscommunication by the waitress as she didn’t understand what we were asking and placed the order as a takeaway when we were asking if we could take it away after, if we hadn’t finished the meal itself.
Now the food, was a very big let down. The entrees were good but the mains were pretty terrible and bland. Just not what we were expecting. We ordered the jalapeño poppers to share, and I ordered for myself the street style corn, Jalisco style birria tacos and beef chimichanga. The jalapeños poppers were tasty and seasoned well. The corn was perfectly charred on the grill and it was very well paired with the sauce.
Now on to the mains, the birria tacos were terrible and the inside of them were a blob of mushed up meat and minimal cheese. Also the taco shell was deep fried, I was expecting soft shell. The consommé that came with it was not as flavoursome as I was expecting it to be either. The tacos were a really big let down. I only ate the one out of the two serves.
Same goes for my chimichanga, it was a let down. It was the same as the taco filling. The rice that came alongside it was very bland and didn’t look appealing at all, it just lacked depth and flavour.
When we went to go pay, we paid cash. Though checking the receipt there is a breakdown of cost if you pay with cash or card with the extra surcharge already added. So be weary as we were nearly slumped with an extra cost. We had to bring it up to the person billing us off and she had to go a manger to clear the surcharge. She didn’t acknowledge that there was no charge for cash payments.
Overall the service and food here is lacking. I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you want...
Read moreIf I could leave a 0 star review I would. Do not go here if you have any dietary requirements. I went to a friends birthday dinner 3 weeks ago, I contacted the restaurant weeks beforehand to let them know I’m coeliac, fructose intolerant and vegan. They assured me it was fine and they can accomodate for me. I checked again on the day, and I was reassured again. The night came and the first two meals came out with onion all through them. They were sent back. I was then told the chef’s don’t know what fructose is. How?! I was then told that they couldn’t do any of the meals for me, and they could just give me some nachos as well as hot chips. I said fine as long as it’s suitable for me. I was assured it was. The “nachos” came out with just plain corn chips and a little bit of vegan cheese. Which was horrible. They then sent out the hot chips, and assured me they were gluten free. I took one bite and immediately knew they weren’t gluten free. So I checked the menu online and saw they’re beer battered and definitely not gluten free. How is this acceptable? I spent the rest of the night with agonising stomach pain from just one chip. It was $60 for the night and what did I get for that?
I’ve contacted head office twice and have not received a single response. For such a serious complaint and to not get a response at all is absolutely abysmal service. And these sorts of errors will likely end up hospitalising somebody and end up in a lawsuit. I will literally never step foot in one of these...
Read moreFood was terrific - really flavourful - my favourite tex mex ish anything on the peninsula so far. Lots of options for meat eaters. I have only been twice so far, and the first time service was slow and a bit confusing. Polite, yes, friendly, yes but somehow didn’t seem one hundred percent polished (eg: staff chatting Ina group at the bar were hard to get the attention of, we had to ask for water twice, we were asked to order online, but there was confusion about vegetarian options for one of us - and when we asked for help, we were still unclear because the staff were unclear, our mains took a very long time even though it was not busy and we were overcharged by mistake). That said, the food was so good we still went back and the second time the service was way smoother (maybe because I was not dining with a vegetarian.) Already dreaming of going back again. Lunch deals are good value (for food of...
