Hello Sam Bentleigh East — Restaurant in Melbourne

This was our first visit here and have seen good reviews on the local Facebook groups. The shop was clean and cute. The food was edible but average.

Service: We had tried to call to place an order but for 30 minutes the phone was busy and we drove over to place the order. Good sign?

Shops was empty when we arrived, but the female owner was too busy telling staff what to do than to focus on us whilst placing our order. Felt rushed and like we were interrupting her night.

Food: The onion rings were yum, but they serve was small (6 onion rings for $7)

Buffalo ‘glazed’ Chicken Burger didn’t have enough buffalo sauce - only on part of the bun, couldn’t taste it for most of the burger, which is disappointing because that’s the idea of a buffalo burger - star ingredient is the sauce with the chicken.

“Southern fried chicken” lacked any flavour (herbs, spice, anything) and the batter was doughy. There was too much batter in some parts so the mouthful was just burger bun and batter.

Every piece of bacon in our whole order (animal fries and 2 burgers) was burnt/ black. We do like crisp bacon but this was next level.

Edible but average.

Final thought: Our take away bag with 5 items in it had one single napkin with a “please give us a review note pasted onto it” - you obviously want reviews so badly so we are following...

Finally, an old favourite from South Yarra comes to Bentleigh East! The extravagant, poetic, coy and adventurous have somewhere to dine in our part of town amongst eclectic & synergistic surrounds!

A full-fledged bar and cosy atmosphere, #hellosam brings more than just a tasty burger to the table - they guarantee their unique fries to remain firm when dipping sauces abound and delectable chicken choices are sure to please.

This evening I had the pleasure of consuming the maestro of cheese - The Mozza Melt. Remove the bacon and add some American Cheddar please, juicy Angus beef with cheese in the fore! Alas, two could please, but wait there’s more! Delicately fried crispy chicken strips with sauce of choice - by GOD the choice!

Throw caution to the wind and elevate your perceptions here at #HELLOSAM. And when the degustation comes to a close, open a bottle and romance the night away...

In all seriousness, though, I am delighted to be entranced by wonderful surrounds and friendly service - let Katherine’s smile serve as a precursor to a wonderful night filled with food, wine and song.

A happy & content 4.5/5 from me only because a little too much bbq sauce came between me and the cow - next time I’ll elect for...

Couldn't make it down to the restaurant so I checked the Hello Sam website for an option to order directly and receive delivery. Unfortunately their only option for delivery is Uber Eats, so I used that.

Burgers were decent, but the chips serving size is terrible. Other places on Uber Eats offer significantly better portion sizes for similar price. It left the kids disappointed, and I had none so the kids could have a half reasonable serve.

After putting up a short review, you get a nasty reply from the owners, blaming us for using Uber Eats.

It's your business choice to use Uber as your delivery method, lots of other local restaurants have an in house driver to deliver orders and offer much better value and can be ordered directly rather than a 3rd party.

It's your business choice on serving sizes.

Don't abuse for your customers for being dissatisfied with your business decisions.

Apologies for the 1 star on atmosphere, the Google user interface didn't appear to allow me to submit a review with all three elements. It does appear when editing that I can, and have revoked that element.
