It's a family affair at this Balmain Street nook, which is brought to us by Sam and Chelsea. Sam managed to reel his dad in after semi-retiring, along with mum and his partner's sister! Hence the name - home being a reference to the venue feeling like home because you're surrounded by family, and ground alluring to the delicious coffee that's put through the grinder 7 days a week! I love that they have a 'home ground advantage', living across the street from the cafe, and a stone's throw from the MCG. Even better- they're a family of Richmond FC supporters, so they're right at home! Once lockdown ends we'll be able to sit in the modern designed dining area that looks out onto a private garden and pool area for the neighbouring apartments. Locals are already loving the coffee from Symmetry, as well as the opportunity to enjoy quality single-origin beans that rotate weekly. Their current El Salvador Finca Himalaya Natural tastes like Nutella and Baked Apple. There are plans in the works to serve alcohol, with a long term vision to open in the afternoon for footy crowds wanting a hotdog and beer, or a pie and chips before the game.

Best coffee in Melbourne! I recently visited HomeGround and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The coffee was exceptional, with a rich and robust flavor that hit all the right notes. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding a personal touch to my visit. I'll definitely be returning for more of their delightful brews. Congratulations!!

I popped in by chance here because it was near a parking spot right across the way. In today's economy I like to support independent businesses. And Steven the barista and the owner. is very polite and very friendly and made in my awesome coffee. They were running a special on Breaky and the coffee. Ended up spinning over an hour there as I was working on a presentation.Thank you much Steven.

These guys are attentive during peak periods too, when i have my coeliac / gluten free requests; even. They come through like a breeze. Theres always a rotating freshly ground coffee mix of variety of beans! A dog friendly environment, and booze if your lunch hour sees the end of your workday---NOTE: the back has a quiet "green space" facing area with art thats perfect for solo zoom meetings or small 2-6 ppl meetings-- or for those needing quiet time. I reccomend them and their yum menu-- AND GLUTEN FREE things (there could be another solid GF lunch option if i was picky) but they can whip up a protein to add to a few kinds of salad YUMM--theres GF savoury and sweet options plus their...

Excellent cafe. The new owner Fon is a fully qualified Chef with lots of experience, is very attentive and treats everybody with amazing respect and individual care. I've heard she has cooked for the likes of Serena Williams, Medvedev, Raffa and all the Aus Open tennis stars as the official player chef and was Chef at the Botanic Gardens at the lake prior to taking over HG. I believe the other owner Stephen is a head chef at venues like John Cane Arena, Melbourne Park and Marvel Stadium. Seriously great food. If I was nearby I'd...
