Honour Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

Jim and his family are amongst the hardest working people in the industry, and also amongst the nicest you will ever meet. They will cook the food to your liking, such as keeping the chips in longer, which I prefer, and this gives the chips a crunchier taste (some might say over-cooked, but this is how I like them). They are one of the few places that makes their own potato cakes by hand, rather than use generic frozen ones from the lowest quality suppliers. The prices are still reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Although, Jim, it is true that the chip sizes are a little on the small side, as other reviewers have noted. However, you will find it difficult, if not impossible to find better overall value in this area. The crumbed and grilled flake is as good as you will get anywhere...what an amazing place! Good service from this Fish and chip shop, which is open more often than not, always a plus. You would have to be local to know that it is there as signage is not great. Staff are very friendly and well organized but food can vary from good to poor depending on what you order. The egg and bacon roll I ordered had one thin piece of bacon, which you could hardly taste, and a small egg. Their egg and bacon sandwiches seem to be better than this, slightly. Flake is reasonably good and their potato cakes are good, as others have noted, but their chips are very hit and miss; quantity for a minimum chips seems to be on the small side for the money in my opinion compared to others in the area and greater Wyndham. very disappointed.. when I rang and placed my order for my sons dinner, I asked for the kids pack and for the fish bite etc be cooked and packed separate as he has a mild food reaction to fish. The young guy that I spoke to was really nice and thanked me for letting them know about it and guaranteed it wouldn't be mixed up with the chips and other food I ordered for him. When I went and picked it up, another young guy wrapped it up and clearly didn't read the note on my order that the fish had to be separated and just looked at me and "goes oh I've wrapped it in the pack is that ok?" Hmm no!!

He didn't offer to re cook the food and just took it out of the pack and placed it in another brown bag with no apology or anything..
