Wyndham Vale Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Melbourne

It's taken me a while to get around to writing any sort of honest review of this place, which is a shame, because it really is a community treasure, and one of the absolute, best kept secrets for consistently amazing food, backed by a wonderful 'family' of lovely and charming characters, who love their customers and demonstrate this each and every day with top quality ingredients - which, like the cost of all things has had to increase, but NOT at the expense of quality taste and generosity - it is EXCEPTIONAL VALUE! The fact that this gorgeous local institution continues to grow and flourish is testament to the care and love with which they look after their guests and the beautiful food they prepare fresh, each and every day (except Tuesday, which still trips me up most weeks,) :D Recently their menu has grown siginificantly and I couldn't encourage you all enough to have a go at. The chicken wings are super tasty, and again - amazing value - literally, you wouldn't bother making them at home when they're this good at this price, their pasta is FABULOUS! Carbonara is as good as you'll get anywhere (and there's some great local Italian around,) and we all love the Bolognaise. Schnitzels are epic, as are the Parmigiana - like they've come off an eagle in terms of size, succulent, expertly cooked and the same wonderful napolitana and cheeses they load their pizzas with. The Tiramisu is superb, gosh - there's so much good stuff! For me, the game changers are their serves of chips - these are Wonderful, and in terms of VALUE FOR MONEY, buy two of these and then see how much you get next store - PLUS the chips are perfect! They're crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle - and they come in a box, so you don't unwrap a damp pile of mushy chips - definitely skip the F+C next store if you're just after some chips - this is a game changer in our house - we order here all the time, but some of the kids just want chips, so we used to alternate between here - which is amazing, and the f and c store next to it, which is very inconsistent, and occasionally downright horrible - So now, for our family, it's a one stop shop that we visit at least a few times every week, and consider ourselves so lucky that we have such a great place locally. I don't often write reviews, especially when they are not good, because I believe everyone deserves a second chance, especially businesses. However, this pizza shop really needs some improvement, and people should be aware of my experience.

I had ordered a pizza from them before, and everything went smoothly. This time, I visited to pick up an order and inquired if they offered halal options. They informed me that the chicken was halal, so I ordered a chicken pizza and specified "no bacon, please."

When I arrived to pick it up, my son took a slice to eat and immediately pulled a long piece of hair out of his mouth and threw up. I went back inside and explained the situation. Instead of an apology, they simply said they would make another pizza.

I also noticed that the second box contained bacon, which I had explicitly asked to be omitted. The lady at the counter insisted I only requested halal, and I reiterated that I wanted chicken with no bacon.

After waiting for 15 minutes, I asked how much longer it would be. The chef then admitted that they had accidentally given my pizza to someone else and sent a girl to retrieve it from the man in the parking lot. They managed to get it back after five minutes.

Once I got home, my kids were eating the pizza when we found yet another piece of hair. At that point, I couldn't help but think it was either a horrifying coincidence or they were carelessly handing out pizzas with hair on them.

I called to express my frustration, stating that I wouldn't be returning and didn't care about getting my money back. The service was awful, and it’s disgusting to find hair on two separate pizzas. Additionally, I clearly requested no bacon, so I couldn't understand how that mistake could occur.

Overall, my experience was terrible, and since then, my kids haven't been able...

Don’t pay the $5 delivery fee, took 1hr20min to get 2 pizzas delivered 9min away from the shop. I think they forgot my order tbh, when I called an hour into it and asked, girl on the phone said “…it’ll be leaving in abooouut 5min, have a lovely night”. No “sorry about the wait, we’re really busy here tonight”, no “we’re so sorry about that, that order didn’t go through the system properly, we’ll be right on it and chuck an extra garlic pizza in for the inconvenience”. Like even just lie to me to make, me feel like you guys care about the whole stuff up. But nope, nothing.
