House of Salad — Restaurant in Melbourne

I dropped in for a late lunch. I ordered a side of cooked vegetables and a side of garlic bread. From the menu I was looking at the total was going to be $11. A little steep, but I was willing to go with it. When I got to the register I was told, since I ate it at the restaurant rather than as takeaway I had to pay $17 for two side dishes! I was not warned this would be the case and neither item was of very good quality. The garlic bread just had garlic salt sprinkled on the top. The vegetables included canned mushrooms that always make me a little sick to my stomach. So I had the pleasure of physically not feeling well. My 9 year old daughter wanted to order her own meal over the phone.

She called house of salad during a busy period. The women on the other end of the phone quickly recognised it was a child, stopped what she was doing and gave her full attention. Explained the difference between the pastas on the menu etc.

I was listening on the other end and was very impressed.

This phone call could have gone two ways. Either cut my daughters confidence down, or built her up.

My daughter was so proud after ordering her own dinner, which is massive for a young ladies growth.

Very dissatisfied. My mum and I went there tonight. We were the only ones there yet we were sat right around the back out of view. I ordered a lattee as we sat down, after 45mins of being there and asking again about my lattee when our food was brought to our table and told it won't be long I was not impressed. We ordered a margaretia with pineapple and they couldn't even get that right. No pineapple! After we finished eating with still no lattee we left. The lattee was on the bill along with the pineapple which we had them remove. Apart from us there was only one other table with two adults and two children I now understand why....
