Delicious pastries located on this quiet residential street. It was Good Friday and luckily they were still open so we got to try their limited edition items that come and go.
Adore the industrial kiosk set up, really resonates home with their baked goods using quality ingredients and made with love and care.
Leatherwood honey & sea salt croissant (3.5/5): pastry was phenomenal and that goes for all the pastries we had here. So flakey and crispy, yet soft inside, with a good amount of butter. Flavour wise, I would prefer my plain croissant than this. Very unique flavour which I was unfamiliar with but surprisingly quite addicting. Maybe a little less salt and sadly not a fan of the leatherwood honey compared to my partner. Partner thoroughly enjoyed it, said it tasted like your honey corn flakes cereal.
Tarte flambƩe with speck, chive cream fraƮche & cured egg (5/5): still thinking about this savoury pastry. My favourite elements combined into one pastry - creme fraƮche, egg and a nice flakey crispy croissant. Speck chive cream fraƮche was mindblowing, and it just worked so well. There was a slice of bacon hiding inside the pastry, and everything together was like an upgraded version of your eggs bacon croissant. Please stay on the menu!
Mushroom, fontina, rosemary pastry (3.5/5): pastry was just as good. Would have loved this if it was warmer and if more of the mushroom flavour shone. Very aromatic though!
Always on the lookout for their new exciting pastries but I always miss out so Iāll come around sooner or later!
Came back more frequently after that year, and now I proclaim as the best pastries in Melbourne. Always something new and unheard of, hit and miss, but the pastry itself is beyond beautiful. Buttery just right, sweet touch, and flaky crunch.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMonforte Viennoiserie is a small-batch pasticceria that creates European-inspired seasonal pastries & jams. All their products are made onsite and are created to change with the seasons, making the most of produce when itās at its best and most flavourful. It was perfection and like nothing Iāve had before in Melbourne.
Chorizo, Chilli & Saltbush - Extremely flaky, thin layers, the delicious chorizo was evenly spread throughout the layers so you got it in every bite, the chilli wasnāt very pronounced which I didnāt mind. It was the perfect combo of salty and savoury.
Spring Garlic, Kalamata Olive & Stracciatella - The bun was so soft, the olives were plentiful and juicy, despite being cold the cheese was nice and gooey, a little salty but expected considering the ingredients. This was so good cold, I canāt imagine how good it tastes warm fresh out of the oven.
Leatherwood Honey & Sea Salt Croissant - The honey oozing on the exterior is intimidating and made me think it would be too sweet but it was the perfect amount of honey. The honey produced a light aroma of leatherwood that fills your nose with each bite. The croissant itself was so flakey, buttery and crisp. Perfection.
If youāre looking for high quality pastries this is where youāll find them. Their selection might be small but when they nail every item this well, I donāt think it matters. Whilst you canāt get all of these items anymore (the croissant is still available), they do have a new Spring menu which sounds incredible. Iāll be making my next visit very soon to try some of their latest goodies and I...

Between two, it was $15.75pp.
REVIEW: š„ I really enjoyed the flakiness of the croissant. There's thin layers once you bite into it, that melt in your mouth when it hits the warmth and the moisture. Being brutal, I reckon Melbourne croissants are better than the squishy soft France croissants! Monforte Viennoiserie do great croissants but the leatherwood honey was too sickly cloyingly sweet for me. My friend liked its sweetness though!
š§ A big failure is cold cheese. You can't go past/save cold cheese from feeling like an anchor in your stomach. The Pancetta, smoked raclette and kraut sounded like it had so much potential, but nothing can save a drowning cold raclette or the overwhelming wave of pickled sour kraut.
ā Favourite by default, would be the tomato onion and ricotta. I love the amount of flavour (š š š ) in this compared to the other two, and its tart form was fun to eat. I like my capers punchy, so felt like it had more potential to shine through here!
There's no dining area so it's very much a takeaway store. Limited selections, the soft serve was somehow UNAVAILABLE at 12pm on Sunday. Medoubts whether anyone has ice cream at 10am, but there was still plenty of pastries available on offer at 12pm...
