Overall disappointing experience. We normally love 400 Gradi- hence organising a hens party with lunch at 400 in the Yarra Valley.
On arrival staff stated they had nil recollection/documentation of the payment in full and when shown a screen shot of the payment no politeness or appologies and bluntly requested to email. Also phoned throughout the day asking for payment even when advised it had been transferred plus we would be there shortly? Then when paying for wines again asked for full payment. A deposit was also paid prior, understand policy is to pay in full-but whatโs the point, either just pay in full or do a deposit?
We had booked the mezzanine level and were excited to be celebrating it was never mentioned at the time of booking that it was subject to weather. Two days out- the first we had heard- when payment/food was being organised we confirmed the mezzanine, to be advised it would be at manager discretion. On arrival due to heat (35 degrees-the entire venue has no aircon) we where seated downstairs (fair enough thatโs very hot and no doubt uncomfortable- also not aircon downstairs everyone stuck to everything) but no appologies, no mention of what we where celebrating/ congratulations/ howโs the day been? From start to finish there was no basic hospitality- introductions of staff/flow of food/how the drinks would be served. Food dumped on the table, eye rolled when wine places on the wrong side of the table to what anyone was drinking/ordered. We spoke with the manager on arrival regarding bottles included for our party and where advised it would be passed on to our waiter, only to sit down and have a different waiter with the wrong bottles.
The food was delicious which is always a plus- just the delivery legitimately dumped on the table- no explanation, no attempts at politely moving other things out of the way. We had no idea how much food was to come etc. When weโve booked the venue a month out itโs really hard to remember the menu by heart.
Honestly I never write reviews but when youโve looked through so many venues in the Yarra Valley and have always had good experiences with 400 this was unexpected and generally...

While the indoor restaurant is beautiful, I would strongly suggest sitting outdoors if weather permits. CRUST me, I mean, look at that view ๐ A gentle breeze, views of the water - that is truly the meaning of enjoying the simple...
ย ย ย Read moreStunning location! The drive in was a bit of a maze, but it was well signed to the car park (and that is in front of the very impressive stage for 'A Day on The Green' concerts. The restaurant is huge! Large open areas and HUGE windows with beautiful views make for a wonderful dining experience. We loved the open kitchen area - this is great for the kitchen staff to be able to look out at their patrons, and to see the outside world while they're working. The staff were fantastic! With the huge crowd there, they were still very attentive to our small table mixed in with the hustle and bustle.
We ordered pizza. They were fantastic! But, they lacked some fresh herb toppings that would have added some extra flavour, apart from that they were spot on. Desert was simple gelato. It was delicious, but should have been served correctly in a dining area - the take away cups and an icecream wooden stick to use was a let down. Over all - we loved our meal and experience here. I think extra attention needs to be paid to outdoor areas on cooler days... staff, and outdoor patrons leave the awkward sliding door open all the time - leaving indoor...
