Kat's Catch Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

Without a doubt, this is one of the best — if not the best — fish and chips shops in South East Melbourne. I walked in today not knowing what to expect, but after hearing a customer outside passionately praising their food, I decided to give it a shot.

Here's what I ordered:

Single Pack (1 flake, 1 potato cake, 1 dim sim, chips, and a can of drink) Seafood Stick Chicken Tender Pickled Onion

First and foremost, I have to highlight the exceptional service. I had the pleasure of speaking with Kat herself and Sean/Shaun, and they were genuinely friendly and charismatic. As someone who values great customer service, I truly appreciated their warm and welcoming attitude.

Now, onto the food. The flake was phenomenal — it literally melts in your mouth. It looked like fresh flake, not the typical frozen kind you find at most fish and chips shops. The batter was perfectly coated, not overly oily, and had a satisfying crunch. In fact, everything I tried today, despite being deep-fried, tasted fresh and clean. The chips and sides were perfectly fried and generously seasoned with chicken salt. They even threw in an extra potato cake~

I haven’t tried their souvlaki and other menu items yet, but seeing that spit of meat in the shop makes me believe they’d be just as impressive.

I’ve visited plenty of fish and chips shops along the beach, but not many can match the quality of this place. It absolutely lives up to its glowing reviews. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend checking them out!

AMAZING!!! 10/10 We have been looking for a decent fish and chip shop for the last 2 years since moving to Noble Park. Kats is not only super clean, (very impressed how clean it was) the staff are very friendly and it was so nice to see the I were working along side their staff nicely, and as a productive team.

Now the food! Finally a minimum chips that’s better than a minimum. For 2 of us we couldn’t even finish it. We got a free potato cake which was nice (thank you) The flake was cooked perfectly and the portion was great I also couldn’t eat it all. The mixed souvlaki was delicious and filled with a lot of meat (hubby was very impressed) Nuggets were very yum too, our toddler loved them!

We will definitely be back, food is very reasonably priced and the quality overall is outstanding. We will be back as we have decided this is our new local FNC shop. Thank you...

We got the duo Kat’s pack for $30.8 and it’s amazing. The whole place was really nice, all the staff were friendly. When we first saw it, we were amazed by how big the portion they gave was.

The flake fish was really good and massive, nice crispy batter, well cooked tasty fish. The chips were fried really well, very crispy and seasoned too. I enjoyed the potato cakes quite a bit as well. We also swapped one of our dimsim for a calamari which was really good too.

It came with 2 drinks, and they let us get either 2 cans or a large bottle, which was really generous of them.
