Okay food, awful service. Would it kill ya to smile?
Can't say I'm typically one to leave a review, but felt compelled after experiencing what I can only describe as brutal service during mine and my friend's dining experience at Las Chicas. From the initial table booking to the waitress that handled our table, I don't think I've ever felt so unwanted in a restaurant before. I greeted our waitress with a smile and repeated thank you's and was met literally every single time with stone faced monotone. Literally not one of our servers smiled (not even once!) or made us feel welcome or wanted in the restaurant at all; I actually felt like we were inconveniencing them simply by being there. We are pretty quiet and unassuming, so I can't imagine it being personally directed toward myself and my flatmate. Rather, I think that style of "service" may have been endemic throughout the restaurant. It made for a somewhat uncomfortable and awkward meal.
Food? Average. Fruit salad was okay. Fresh fruit with a small dab of coconut yogurt. Ruben sandwich was overcooked and fairly average. The corned beef was fine, though.
In sum, somewhat average food for a comparatively high price tag and, unfortunately, service that made myself and my dining guest feel unwanted and uncomfortable despite our best efforts to be polite and jovial with the wait staff. Their cold demeanor and uninviting, seemingly irritated delivery of standard waiting service literally became a running joke throughout our meal.
Due to the service alone, I don't think I'll be back, which is unfortunate because they're a short walk...
Read moreThis place is managed by a guy (curly hair) that wants your money but acts like he's the one doing you a favour. Mate, there's 20 other cafes outside that show some appreciation for customers and know what customer ''SERVICE" means. I've been to the renovated las chicas 3 times and never again. Each time he'll make sure he rudely directs you where to put your pram before you sit so God forbid it's out of place. Guess what mate parents are smart enough and have enough experience to know not to block anyone if we can help it. He snatched the pile of menus from near my son when my son gently took one to look at and put it back, telling us off saying that the menues were 'new'. When telling him how rude he was he defended his actions saying he has 2 young kids - as if that's an excuse for acting like kids arnt wanted in the cafe. Reiterated his point when I went to pay in an attempt to show he's the right one. Never seen anything like it. To top it off this place surcharges every card transaction.. it's almost 2019 and most people use cards guys.. why not convenience the customer and just absorb the costs... Oh wait, that would be called customer service and we know you clearly have no interest in doing that!
Stay away from this discusting place...
Read moreWe arrived on Friday looking forward to my wagyu beef burger, it was pretty busy and so I was prepared for a longer wait. Our usual waitress from colombia is always in good spirits, we were served amazing coffees and nice sparkling water. Unfortunately when the burger arrived it looked rather uncared for, very sloppy and cold. When I cut it ready to enjoy, it was like cutting into rubber. Wagyu is meant to be cooked medium under, specially for a burger pattie. I couldn't eat it and did explain my dissapointment to a different waitress which told me after I showed her, she would inform the kitchen brigade. We left and a third waitress greeted us at the register to settle our account. I explained to her about my quality of wagyu burger and she didn't even acknowledge me. She went ahead and charged us for the whole account and it was obvious between all their staff their is a severe lack of communication let alone any attention to detail for customer service. I'm truly dissapointed as I have always highly rated las chicas in our past visits with my carer Matika. Very poor service as poor level burger. Hope someone keeps an eye on their product as I have had exceptional meals...
