We went there for dinner as we are Carlisle st locals, thought we would try a different place for the night. We got 2 main meals, some chips, hummus and some cauliflower.
Service- the service was the worst thing about this place, the server was really rude and seemed like he didn’t want to be there, he made for a really awful first time. We know our way around hospitality as we both work in it and could tell he wasn’t new but was really over working there. We asked about the beer garden and he gave us a judgemental look and just said not anymore which was not the best way to talk to first time customers. He was looking around not giving us eye contact when we ordered and seemed uninterested.
Good- the cauliflower was absolutely wonderful? Fresh and cooked well. Best part of the meal. Burger was a little soggy but overall really well cooked and good. Chips were cold on arrival and didn’t have much to them flavour wise. Hummus could have definitely had more flavour too it but was alright!
Overall food and seating was good, price wise was pretty fair for the food. Service really changed the overall experience and definitely something that needs to come up in a staff meeting as it was not good enough (especially coming from customers who know when there is a bad day or a new employee and always willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, it really shows when we try and be nice customers and are given...
Read moreI live all the way in Essendon, 45 minutes away from the Tavlin (1 hour on friday night) yet i've been here 4 times in the past 3 weeks and will be coming again as soon as I finish my exams! It is the only restaurant I've ever been to where every item on the menu is literally perfect. It's the only place I've been to where all three courses are consistently good and they also have some very unique Israeli drinks. My favourite things on the menu are their laffa and baba ganoush, you won't find a better flatbread or dip anywhere in the world! I actually bought some baba ganoush to have at home when i went last night and i'm eating it with savoys as i type this hahaha. The desserts are impecable too, the turkish delight ice cream can be best described as 3 scoops of heaven, it's texture, consistency, flavour and even the aroma of it is unmatched. I could say a million words about the tavlin and I still wouldn't have covered everything about it, it is truly amazing in every aspect regardless of what you choose to eat, the pricing is quite reasonable too and the owner is a very funny and friendly man who can have a chat and crack a joke with his customers and the waiters are incredibly friendly too. The only negative for me is the fact that I live so far...
Read moreWe decided to try this place last night with my 2 friends. We got the set menu because we couldn’t decide what we wanted but wanted to taste everything. Although it was a lot of food for us 3 girls, we did not regret it! The food was so delicious! It tasted so fresh! There was a sauce that I will be dreaming about that comes with the main part of the set menu (golden colour). If it comes bottled, I will buy it 😂 my friends and I found ourselves dipping the crunchy chips into it, putting it on the rice and the meat, whatever could because it was DEVINE!! Colour of gold and literally liquid gold! I also have to give an incredible shoutout to the girls that were serving us. Constantly checking in on us, making sure that everything was okay and if we wanted anything else. We even said that kind of service doesn’t even come from some of the most expensive restaurants we’ve been to. It was super well priced for this banquet. Heaps of delicious food, amazing service, can not wait...
