I was recommended I try out @LosHermanosAu for delicious Mexican.
Gorditas Handmade maize flour pocket filled with twice cooked beans, ricotta, mozzarella. Topped with house made salsa verde and served with escabeche.
These are interesting, crunchy n the outside but the pocket is soft on the inside. The filling is delicious, as is the pocket, the lovely soft beans melt in your mouth, the ricotta adds a creaminess, and stronger sharper flavour comes from the mozzarella. The escabeche is refreshing and a bit spicy from the chilli. I love the salsa verde, so tasty.
Pescado Taco Fried beer batter fish fillet, on a bed of red cabbage, served on an open tortilla, topped with chipotle mayonnaise, fresh coriander and a wedge of lemon
A lovely thin crunchy batter, succulent fish, a hit of spiciness from the chipotle and the acid of the lemon and freshness from the coriander makes each bite so enjoyable, not to mention the taco holding it all together.
Papas con Chorizo Taco Home made Mexican style chorizo, fried potatoes and onion, served in open tortilla with cheese, topped with coriander and onion This taco is very different, a lovely soft filling that squeezes out the sides as you bite in, comforting potato, a more subtle meatiness from the chorizo which is mild in flavour, but there's that chilli kick again to leave a nice hum on the back of the tongue.
Churros Crispy crunchy doughnuts, slightly chewy , soft and pillowey on the inside, the perfect amount of sugar so it's not too sweet or unsweetened, dipped in sumptuous melted chocolate, is there a better way to finish a meal?
Very filling, delicious authentic flavours, I'm enjoying the variety and the venue is warm and welcoming just like the friendly staff. What a fantastic experience!
Visited again. Got to Los Hermanos Mexican Tacqueria @LosHermanosAu at 6pm and joined the queue of hungry patrons waiting for the doors to be thrown open and then it's time to order:
Pork Morita Three mini tortillas with slow cooked pork in Morita chilli and cinnamon, served with lettuce, queso fresco and coriander. These carry a nice chilli kick but not to the extent of being unbearable. Delicious tender pork just melts in your mouth with the lovely spice mix, freshness and the feta like queso fresco cheese. I really enjoyed these.
Barbacoa (lamb) taco - lamb off the bone, slow cooked in beer and served with an open tortilla with cheese, lettuce, topped with red salsa, onion and coriander. Tender lamb in lovely warmed corn tacos, freshness, love the salsa, but could have been enhanced with some seasoning on the lamb.
Carne de Res (beef) taco - twice cooked beef with carrots slow cooked in chipotle and potato served on an open tortilla with lettuce, onion, coriander, cheese and topped with salsa verde. Once again a tasty taco but lacking a touch of seasoning. The beef is tender and I particularly liked the sauce which adds additional flavour and ties all ingredients together.
Sopé Traditional Mexican hand made maize base, layered with twice cooked beans, cheese, lettuce, and house made salsa. I chose a sope with cactus mole. Wow, these are amazing! A crispy thick corn like disc holds an array of toppings and I love the slightly intense sauce of the delicious warmed cactus mole. Favourite of the night for me despite the delicious tacos!

Read moreWe tried to eat here tonight. We had our dog with us so we needed an outdoor table, and so we called ahead to see if they had one available. I was told they do not take same day bookings, which is fair enough, but the girl mentioned that there was a table about to finish up so if we got there quickly we could maybe snag it. We arrived, and were ignored for a while until we flagged down a waiter and asked if a table was available. They looked confused and said they would ask somebody. They never came back. My husband went inside and found someone and asked if a table was available. He was told to wait outside and someone would attend to him. Nobody did. I asked a third member of the wait staff and was told that we should wait by the door until the 7pm seating had arrived and they would see, but there was possibly a table outside that they thought we could have. About 15 minutes had passed by this time. A few minutes later a couple walked up to the door and asked a different staff member if any tables were available. She promptly pulled out a clipboard and offered to put their names ‘on the list’ and told them it was about a 40-minute wait. We then inquired with this woman and told her that three different staff members had told us to just wait by the door and had not mentioned the list. She just shrugged and said it was ‘changeover time’, without apologizing, and said she could put us on ahead of the couple who we just witnessed being put on the list. There were several people on it ahead of them already, however. So since we had already been waiting 15 minutes, we declined.
Now we are starving and frustrated. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that the restaurant can improve this process. It is fair enough if you do not have a table - it is the inability of three different staff members to communicate to us that there was a process and a wait list - or to acknowledge our presence - that was...
Read moreMaybe they forgot it ALL Called up the place 20 minutes in advance to check if they were open and wasn’t told the place was busy and needed reservation. I thought “maybe they forgot”. When we reached, we were asked to wait 30 minutes for next table, while I could still see an empty table. Waited 40 minutes before checking with the waiter again, all this time that table was empty. Waiter asked us to wait some more, so we stood near entrance. Two young girls came after us, asked if we had put down our name on waiting list and proceeded to put their name down. Same waiter directly took them inside to another available table. “Maybe he forgot”. Soon he realized we were waiting as well and we were given a table next to the earlier girls. Next challenge was getting the water, the next was to get the napkins. The order we placed was shown around at each table asking everyone if the order was for them before the food landed on our table. The chips were ok, fish tacos great but both chicken and veg tacos were runny with so much sour cream on veg tacos that we couldn’t taste anything else, “maybe they forgot to prepare it better”. The watermelon margarita was missing watermelon and Mojito was overloaded with mint. “maybe they forgot to prepare it better”. The evening was ruined, we wanted to order more but decided to leave. Asked for the bill and another shock. Price for everything on the bill was different to what was on the menu+ they had added beer in the bill, which we didn’t order at all, “maybe they forgot to tell us about revised price or forgot to update their menu”. I realized the error in the bill later, but it was too late. We so wished this place to turn out to be great, we had heard good reviews. I just hope we were the once a lifetime unfortunate customers and the food and servers are better at...
