Loz's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

I recently visited this fish and chip shop and ordered two battered snapper fillets at $10.20 each. Unfortunately, I was served a different, cheaper type of fish instead. It seems like a common practice at many fish and chip shops to substitute a lower-quality fish for the one you specifically ordered, while still charging you the higher price. This deceptive practice can be quite frustrating and misleading. In the future, I recommend asking to see the fillet before it's fried to ensure you receive what you paid for!!!

One star as they open on Mondays while the other Fish and Chips are closed. The remaining lack of stars is due to the food. We got a burger and fish and chips. I will not say they were awful as they were not, just much less then average. I am not sure what the burger patty is made of but there is a very small percentage of meat in it. It tasted more like one of those burgers we used to buy from the frozen isle of the supermarket in the 90's. Down to memory lane but not at all in a nice way. The fish would be nice if the batter was not so thick and if the oil had been in the correct temperature so it would not be so oily.. at least it was a nice piece for sure. Spent $160 on food tonight , worst food in a long time , previous owners were amazing, we ordered a month ago food was great but tonight was horrible and the service from Tracey was horrible, just because we got a free drink with an order over $160(which alot of places do this) and extra potatoe cakes as they were all small does not compensate for the taste Tracey!!!!!! No taste to the food, flake did not resemble flake, dim sims were tasteless, chips overcooked, potatoe cakes were so overcooked, and tasteless, I guess the only thing that was just ok...were the hamburgers. All our guests tonight said the same, What has happened to the quality of food from Loz's. We returned well over $80 worth of food to only get half back...... no point trying to argue with the customer or trying to give excuses, just improve your quality of food. Def taking my money...
