Everything about this shop is great. Tho the lady did seem a lil grumpy, maybe it's just me. But the food here is just perfect, a lil sad you gotta pay for the sauce tho. Taste wise. 10/10. Crispy outside that holds the crispiness, soft and juicy fishes. Barramundi is slightly fishy which I've been told is normal, flake was on point. Fries freshly fried thick cut.

So I wanted to try fish and chips for the first time ever and searched for the nearest place and found this. The girl helped me choose what I should try for my first time and I had the basic fish and chips which was yummy. For anyone who wants to have fish and chips, this is the place and their menu is also good.

By far the best fish and chip shop in Melbourne. They are just ALWAYS on point. I never go anywhere else. Fresh, clean and delicious! Places like this are very hard to come by! Thanks for always producing top quality fish and chips! X Ps. I took a bite out of the fish already I couldn’t help myself :p

Popped in on my way through Thomastown and wow what a spot. Grabbed a potato cake and a burger with the lot. Hit the nail on the head completely. Potato cake was piping hot and not oily. Honestly best potato cake I’ve had since I was a kid. They use the good chicken salt too!! Hamburger was amazing. Thick patty, fresh salads and a generous size. I’ll finish off by saying the prices of this place are so good. A burger with the lot, chips and a can of drink is the same price you pay for a shitty McDonald’s meal that would cost them a fraction of the cost to make. AUG 2025 UPDATE!! There is a new family running Mermaid. They have really lifted the area back up! Mermaid was great for years but dropped off over Covid I think. It's great to see the new owners doing really well here, putting out delicious and classic fish n chips the way we all love, and such lovely people!! Plus the bacon and egg rolls are next level A MA ZING!!!...

Was my favourite shop for the past 6-7 years, however seems like the ownership and staff have changed and now the food is no longer well done, crispy or crunchy.

I've noticed galvanised metal and random aluminum strips added to the cooking surfaces and they do not look food grade/food safe but rather appear home made. They lost me as a customer as I write this eating their undercooked...
