I’ve been to quite a few Kebab places and this one seems to have plenty of allurement from bright neon signs to their pleasant interior design. In the few times I’ve been there, mainly with my friends, it was always busy.
I’ve seen plenty of workers behind the counter preparing large amounts of meals all at once together. They’ve got principles from unity to persistence in their rhythm no matter what intensity of demand there is because they want to deliver. It’s something I don’t see a lot of reviews for this place talk about so I think it’s important to underscore that.
Additionally, good wait times as well. I’ve had two occasions where me and my friends went upstairs to Coles to grab a Dare or Ice Tea and come back down just in time to grab our order. Whatever they’re doing there, keep doing that!
To the food, it is scrumptious! To be fair, I am a bit partial when I say that because I haven’t tried their whole menu and quality could change in different foods like their bread but I endorse their HSP’s!
Their portions are excellent as they always fill it up in the cardboard container. They are so generous with the amounts of sauce and meat, your dopamine receptors don’t even know how good it is! What I always get pleasantly surprised by too is how nice the chips and cheese are underneath. Some other places don’t get me as excited with the chips but I can definitely say these guys get it right.
My only complaints is that I have bit into a flake of bone twice in the meat but I can give that a pass since quality assurance can only do so much to avoid those things. My other complaint is that it is somewhat overpriced. 3 HSP’s for $90 is in my opinion, somewhat steep.
I will adapt my review when I’ve tried other things and see that their quality and diversity in their foods are consistent to what I feel in the HSP’s but otherwise, I love this place. Thank you Mernda Kebab House and I’ll be back...
Read moreUpdated review: I am always happy to pay above average price for above average food, which has always been the case with Mernda kebab house. One thing that doesn't quite make sense to me is 'hummus' isn't included as a sauce like any other kebab shop, but you have to request for it in the comments. They were quite helpful the first few times including hummus on my HSPs but then started charging me $3 for it each order. Again, I have not had an issue with that because maybe it is considered a side dip. Always frustrates me how little they put though. Today I was again charged the extra $3 only to find they didn't even bother putting hummus on my HSP. I have considered myself a very loyal customer over the past 3 years despite my initial review but I have come to realise these guys might not actually care about their customers. Sad to say I won't be returning here as this has been my favourite kebab joint for a while now.
Initial review: Food is fantastic but the service really needs an improvement. I love getting food from this place but I don’t enjoy constantly getting hung up...
Read moreThis is one of my favourite Turkish kebab houses despite being a 40 minute drive for me. Seems to be a family business, definitely worth supporting and I've never been disappointed. They seem to get a lot of third party delivery app orders so the wait time is sometimes a little longer than could be expected, but it's never been unacceptably long. Service from the girls at the counter is always polite. Outdoor seating area has a couple of portable heaters set up, though I usually need these turned up a bit to be comfortable. That's Melbourne for you I suppose! Their falafels are tasty and not dry inside. My favourite is the Shish Kebab meal. The small one might seem to be priced a bit high at $25 but not when you consider you get a full meal (and it's enough to fill me up) - 2 chargrilled meat skewers, a chargrilled paprika and tomato, rice, salad, 2 dips and a basket of fresh...
