✔️ Hot Spicy Pork Skewers ✔️ Corn Fritters ➖ Mi Goreng Chicken Prawn ➖ Nasi Beef Rendang ➖ Gado Gado ✔️ Roti Brata ✔️ Woku Chicken My Asian Neighbour is an Indonesian restaurant located in Reservoir. It provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, enhanced by the hospitality of its husband and wife team, Wayne and Lily, who is also the head chef. The venue itself is inviting, exuding a Balinese-inspired charm through its furnishings and music, especially on a warm night. The menu showcases dishes from the Manado region in North Sulawesi, where Lily is from. 🇮🇩 The Hot Spicy Pork Skewers truly shone, boasting a charred BBQ flavour and tenderness, thanks to a day-long marinade. The Corn Fritters were perfectly executed and crispy. The Gado Gado was a massive portion and very textural. The Roti was perfectly flakey. 🤤 While the Chicken Mi Goreng and the Nasi Beef Rendang didn't quite meet my high expectations in terms of tenderness and flavour, the Woku stir-fried chicken was very tasty and stood out as one of their signature dishes. ⭐️ We did feel the service was slow, seemingly a shared experience amongst other diners. Overall, while we felt there's room for improvement, it's evident that this restaurant holds a special place in the hearts of the local community. They have a 4.8 star rating on Google with over 300 raving reviews, so this may be one to try for yourself. 😊

With the multitude and variety of selections of asian cuisine to choose from in Melbourne, thought we'd try My Asian Neighbour as it is relatively local to our area. Found their establishment on a Google search and was enticed firstly by their high Google star rating. 👌🏽 Restaurant is cosy, intimate (close seating, perhaps not everyones preferece?) and (on the night we visited) had that busy background chatter vibe ambience, reminiscent of if you were to eat at a Bali street restaurant. Upon arrival was greeted welcomingly, wait staff were attentative and prompt with their service overall. Amongst all the inviting dishes on the menu, we tried the spicy pork satay, goat curry, beef rendang and chicken/prawn nasi goreng...unfortunately no room for dessert...next time! 😂 The food presentation was top notch and tasted as good as it looked, perhaps a little better actually? 🤤 Pricing is reflective of the quality and is on par with other restaurants of this nature. Basically what you'd expect to pay these days to eat out. Based on my experience at My Asian Neighbour, I would highly recommend this restaurant for its food and service. 👍🏽 I will definitely be spending my money and time there again in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Indonesian restaurant with some dishes that we have never seen before in Melbourne which are traditional dishes from the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. We tried their signature ungke and babi Rica Rica which are from that region. The ungke had this beautiful fragrance and flavour just a tad bit salty. The Rica Rica looks deadly spicy but it's actually decent, the pork pieces were tender and the sauce works well with rice. The rest of the dishes were okay, indifferent from other Indonesian joints. They have seating indoors and outdoors although you can't tell from the front entrance. Food comes out fairly quickly and service is friendly. Food - 7 Service - 8 Vibe - 7 Price - $$$

Tonight was a complete let down for us 3.

The service was atrocious. I had to ask on 3 times where our food was as it took over 40 minutes for the first mains to come out.

We ordered 3 mains, and all 3 came out with lengthy time between them, which is unacceptable. They should all come out together, so everyone on the table is eating together at the same time.

My girlfriend got her main last, a good HOUR last. After we had finished our meals. Not cool!!

The thing that really upset me is that the table across from us, THAT ARRIVED long after us, were eating their mains before us.

The food is great usually, I have not had a bad meal. But tonight something was not right. The rice felt a little hard, oldish to me, not sure if it was reheated.

The rest of the food was tasty. Can’t complain there.

After all this disappointment and bringing this forward with 2 waiters and at the end, bringing it to the attention of the owner, about what our experience was, you know what happened? NOTHING.

Not ever a few bucks off a $120 bill.

Sorry guys, your food is good, but as a customer, and the way everything was handled tonight, I won’t...
