Went to Mythos Gyros Bar in Oakleigh for a late lunch and drink. Location is good and plenty of parks around. Its on a street / walkway with numerous other restaurants and cafes, has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside, half of the table was sticky which is gross. We ordered souvlaki wraps. Menu mentions all the meals come with chips etc which was assumed it was a side but was in the wrap instead, common misconception. When mentioned and asked to our waiter staff he gives a face and barely says anything except he begrudgingly takes the food back to remedy the situation. The Staff member on our table didn't want to be there and had a bad attitude, so much so we were given another waiter instead of him. The new staff member was great and knew how to talk to customers unlike previous one, shocking. Food was very salty to the point it was inedible. Apparently that wasn't an error and just how they make it. No one could finish their meals, and we were hungry too. Sauce selections for wraps and HSP was lacking and missing common popular sauces you'll find at even a back alley Greek shop. They said they won't charge us for the drinks but was charged for it anyway, you can't make this stuff up. Bad experience overall, I'd recommend going to any of the other nice places next to Mythos instead unless salty food and rude staff...

My friends convinced me to try a new Greek place in Oakleigh where I hadn't eaten before.

Sadly, it was a disappointment.

We got the Piatela Cyclopa - a huge platter for 2 people. For $45 it offers really good value - it has gyros, souvlaki, sausage, kebab, salad, fries, dips, and pita. It was three of us and, apart from us actually ordering extra couple of pitas, the three of us couldn't the platter.

The reason for my disappointment - I've never been to a Greek restaurant where none of the flavours don't even remotely resemble the Greek cuisine. Although the meat was cook OK, it didn't taste Greek at all. The chicken souvlaki had curry powder on, which was shocking. The pita was commercially-purchased and lacked any flavour. The Tzatziki and Taramasalata weren't that good either.

Considering that a place like MeatMe is right next door, I was really disappointed that we ended up at Mythos.

The reason I gave it a second star was its staff - they were all very lovely and with a smile on their faces. So, the service is actually really nice.

The staff, sadly, don't save the place. I...
