Nando's Footscray — Restaurant in Melbourne

I am totally disappointed with this place and I will not ever come back here again. This place does not answer your phone! To be exact, it has not answered phone calls since its change of owners (perhaps around end of 2017 or early 2018).

Unaware of its change of ownership, I have tried to call them on numerous occasions to place an order before I came to pick up so as to save my time, just like I did before. The phone has never been picked up. On my last visit, I came in to order a chicken to take away after I had tried to call them without a response. After I placed an order and paid for it, the girl at the counter told me to wait for them to prepare it and she would let me know when it was ready. I said 'thanks' and sat down at a bench near the counter and waited for her to call me.

That moment never came!

After I waited for more than 20 minutes without being called and started to feel frustrated, I approached a girl at the counter and complained about the long-wait. Only then, the girl checked the ready-shelf and said that it had already been ready! The chicken was already cooled down, as it had probably been sat on the shelf for more than 10 minutes. The girl did not bother to say 'sorry' about it.

To me, it is just an unprofessional and irresponsible way of doing business. Would you come back again if you have the same...

I used to visit Nando’s almost every week, and it was always a great experience—welcoming staff and well-served food. However, today was completely different.

From the moment I walked in, the staff seemed more interested in chatting loudly with each other than actually working. The person responsible for grilling the chicken was glued to their phone, barely paying attention. When our food was finally ready, it just sat on the shelf for about 10 minutes while I watched, wondering when someone would bring it over.

When a staff member finally did, she practically threw the plate onto our table, as if we had done something wrong. It felt like we were being served without any care or respect. And then came the food—completely disappointing. The chicken tasted like it had just been boiled and barely grilled, with no sign of proper marination. The chips were inconsistent—some were well-cooked, while others were undercooked.

For the first time, we couldn’t even finish our meal and left halfway through. This experience was nothing like the Nando’s I used to enjoy. Definitely not...

I've always loved Nandos chicken, it's the unique signature Nandos Peri Peri basting they use on their chicken that sets them apart from your other typical chicken and chip shops. I ordered a full chicken with "hot" Peri Peri as my choice of basting, with two of their sides offerings in this case being peri peri chips and spicy rice. They also have quite a few other choices on the menu which include awesome chicken burgers and wraps, as well as chicken tenders and wings, etc etc... Prices are reasonable I think for portion sizes which are on the medium side. Their chicken is offered in Peri Peri basting or, lemon and herb or for those who can't do spicy. Highly Recommended for those in search of great Portuguese chicken! As a side note staff were very courteous and service was quick and top notch... Note: They have a sign claiming they only accept card payments only, not sure how strict this is and if they would accept cash as I have only ever made payment using my phone. I'll try paying in cash next time for investigative purposes and let you all know how...
