Been here twice - once for a company lunch in Summer during Christmas time, second for a dinner catch up on a Thursday with friends.
I both dislike, and love the different areas. I love there is a lot of seating. Outdoor space is nice, particularly in the Summer, lots of space, you won’t struggle for seating for larger groups. Indoors is the same though it can get loud inside with people drinking and chatting. I dislike how hard it is to navigate if you’re new to the space. I made a reservation for my dinner in the Tap Room but wasn’t sure who to ask about where to sit as there isn’t a designated person directing people and checking reservations. I waited for a friend and we ended up just finding my name on a table.
Menu has a range of things - probably something for everyone. I ordered a seafood linguine (pictured). It was creamy, and had a decent amount of seafood - some clamshells had broken so I found a few pieces in the pasta, but the overall dish tasted good. Friends ordered a fish and chips and a parma. Couldn’t go wrong with either of those. Both very generous sized though I wasn’t able to snap any images of my friends’ meals.
Little things: as with any bar - can get super busy. For food, you order and pay at the register and get your buzzer to pick up your order once its ready. For dinner - kitchen takes orders up to 8:45pm. They also don’t do take away but they will make you the dish served on a plate and give you a take away container to put your food in. There is also security outside by about 8-9ish which is also assuring when you’re walking to your car late in the night.
Overall a decent hangout space. Gets super packed as its a hangout space for Monash...
Read moreI've been to the Nott on a number of occasions. First things first... the atmosphere, layout, and overall 'feeling' that you're greeted with are second to none. Excellent indoor and outdoor settings, with ample space to find a corner, tucked away for a more quiet chat. The food is a slightly higher quality and calibre than most pubs offer, although the price is also of a slightly higher calibre. This shouldn't put you off if you value quality for money. Please remember, though, this isn't fine dining, so don't expect a Michelin Star experience. It's a pub, after all! The staff are polite and surprisingly efficient at table clearing. However, this isn't a table service establishment, so you order and pick up your meal at the kitchen area. The one negative remark i have is the price of alcohol. To give you a perspective, as of May 2025, i ordered a pint of beer (can't recall the make, but it was a fairly common craft beer), and a pot of light beer (Hahn i believe). This totalled $23.50 (approx). To me, that is excessive. I must admit, i might be out of touch with the current beer prices, but when you can get a 6 pack for $18, the math just doesn't add up to me. If this is the common price, then I'll modify this comment! Overall however, i do highly rate The Nott. Well worth a visit after work, or a decent pub meal. It's a 'Pub' that feels like an upmarket olive...
Read more2018: Have been coming here for 20 years for reasonable food and a low-key atmosphere. Have celebrated family milestones here too in the various rooms for hire. Also, The Nott ticks the pokie-free-venue box for me. The last few years have seen it transform into something a bit fancier, and though a parma is $26, it was pretty good tonight, so I'm hoping that the improvements in the kitchen are here to stay. Haven't tried the steak house owing to hefty price. Good selection on beer on tap and the beer garden buzzes in the summer months. Best of the bunch given the absence of decent pubs in the south eastern burbs.
Update 20 Dec 2024: Can't say I still have the same level of affection for the Nott as I used to. Whilst the updated Tap Room looks lovely, the food is letting the venue down. The GF Pizza is always horribly undercooked. Tonight, there were 2 olives on my $33 capricciosa. The only available prosecco by the glass gave me a headache within 15 min. That there is no chips and veg option option with a classic parma and/or steak is also annoying, given its place in Australian pub culture. Underwhelmed and...
