Pizza Kings Tarneit — Restaurant in Melbourne

PK’s Tarneit is my go-to. Until recently they operated here 7 days a week. I was devastated one Tuesday not so long ago to open up their little app and discover they were CLOSED! No!!!! And then it struck me. They have another shop, in Wyndham Vale.

So, yep. I made my order, jumped in my car and drove the extra 12 minutes to get my Pizza Kings pizza, because I could not wait until Wednesday.

Their quality is that consistent. You always know what you’re going to get. Well-cooked, evenly spread, generous but not ridiculously-so toppings and the same pizza every time you order. Right down to the little after-taste of oregano in the tomato sauce base when you’re lucky enough to get that one little patch on the very edge of the crust that is sauce and crust and nothing else.

Extra toppings are reasonably priced. My ONLY whinge is having to ask for anchovies as an extra on a capricciosa; where I grew up anchovies were part & parcel of the cappy. But I’m prepared to forgive because the pizza is just that good.

They’re one of the few locals who employ their own drivers, as well as dealing with the usuals for pickups.

They also believe in their product. There’s a big sign on the door that says “(other delivery service name) drivers - NO BAG, NO PICKUP”. They’re prepared to stand up to the big guys in the delivery industry to look after their customers and make sure we get the product we...

Ordered a pizza and chips through menulog, the order was supposed to come at 6:50pm it came at 7:35pm, the delivery guy called us 3 times saying he was lost, after he finally came I said we didn't want the chips as they were going to be soggy as anything. He told us to try them so we did and surprise surprise they were soggy and dripping on the floor. He gave us $8 back for the chips, however the pizza was soggy and wet too. When I called kings to complain and ask for a compensation, she said next time we order to ask to put holes on the box, and did not offer us our money back or another round of fresh chips. She said we can have free chips next time we order however there will not be a next time. The pizza was horrible too and we threw it in the bin. I ordered BBQ chicken, BBQ meat and the Lot as well as Carbonara pasta through UberEat and I’m waiting to test their food. Accordingly, I’ll edit this review once I try my order.

I tried the order, generally pleased. The dough was fresh and the ingredients met restaurant-level standards. The pizza is less fastfoodish and more like the pizza you get in proper restaurants.

I didn’t like the carbonara pasta; too watery, little ingredients besides the pasta.

The pizzas were hugely salty so I wasn’t able to eat the same amount of pizza I usually eat. Also, there was no option to select the type of pizza bread and all came with the type that I don’t like. (I like crispy thin pizza bread, theirs were the opposite BUT still super delicious.)
