A Cozy Culinary Gem: Souls Cafe Review
Nestled in the heart of our vibrant town, Souls Cafe emerges as a cornerstone for coffee connoisseurs and food aficionados alike. My recent visit to this charming establishment not only confirmed its reputation but also presented a delightful juxtaposition to another renowned coffee hotspot in Bentleigh.
Upon arrival, the inviting aura of Souls is immediately palpable. The café exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a perfect setting for both casual catch-ups and solitary respite. A particular highlight is their outdoor seating area, which offers a splendid al fresco dining experience. It's a serene spot that beautifully captures the essence of leisurely outdoor dining.
The hallmark of Souls, however, lies in its culinary offerings. The coffee here is not just a beverage; it's a craft. Each cup is a testament to their commitment to quality, rivaling even the best I've tasted in Bentleigh. The rich aroma, perfectly balanced flavors, and the right hint of bitterness create a symphony in a cup.
Complementing their exceptional coffee is the café's array of delectable eats, with the Tostie deserving a special mention. This isn't just a sandwich; it's a fusion of flavors meticulously crafted to tantalize the taste buds. The blend of ingredients, freshness, and culinary skill makes it a must-try for any visitor.
The staff at Souls further elevates the experience. Their supportive, friendly, and helpful demeanor ensures that every patron feels valued and cared for. It's this level of service that transforms a simple café visit into a memorable encounter.
One suggestion for improvement would be to extend their operating hours into the evening. Given the quality of the experience, longer hours would undoubtedly be welcomed by the community, offering a cozy retreat for evening coffee enthusiasts and late-night snackers.
In conclusion, Souls sandwiches is not just a place to eat and drink; it's a destination that offers an exceptional culinary journey. Whether you're a local or just passing through, a visit to Souls promises to be a delightful and...
Read moreSandwiches here are made fresh. We really enjoyed the sandwiches here. We even tried the frozen coffee and the fried pickles. The frozen coffee was super good, it reminded me of Viet iced coffee. The pickles were yummy. The smoked pastrami sandwich is a definite must try. I really like it, there was the perfect amount of sauce to filling ratio and the flavours really came together.
Edit: WE CAME BACK
We had: 🥒Fried pickles ($6.5) + ranch sauce ($1.5) 🍟Fries ($5.5) 🥪Smoked pastrami sandwich ($16.9) 🥪Deli cold cuts ($16.9) 🥪Sesame hot glazed chicken ($16.9) 🍵Iced Strawberry Matcha ($7.5)
You can skip the matcha, it was simply average. The sandwiches are a must try. I will always be getting the pastrami from them. Their chicken one was also pretty good. My boyfriend will always get the deli cold cuts as that is his favourite from Saul’s. Fried pickles are a must & so are the fries because that chicken salt is...

Saul’s delivers on taste, but the value left me wanting more. We tried the cold cuts sandwich and the tuna melt toastie—both were absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and had that classic American deli-style feel. The menu is simple but well-executed.
That said, the prices were on the steep side. At $17–$18 per sandwich, plus an extra $2 just for a slice of Calabria chili, I expected a bit more in terms of portion size. We also got two coffees and two cakes for $19. The flavors were spot-on, but the cakes were quite small—especially after seeing other reviews featuring much larger choux custard puffs.
Overall, the food was great, but for the price, I was hoping for a little more bang for my buck. If you’re after high-quality sandwiches and don’t mind the cost, Saul’s is...
