The choice on what to order was difficult as all the options were mouth watering. We want to return to try more of the menu. We ended up sharing meals, however there is a separate kid’s menu. There is something for everyone in the menu, including their signature Nutella Pancakes. We were absolutely impressed with this dish, especially with the amount of fruit included too. I recommend sharing this one with the kids for a treat!
We really enjoyed sharing the following: Nutella Pancakes – Famous Pancakes with strawberries, grilled banana, oreo crumble, vanilla ice cream and Nutella. Potato Rosti – (Choice of Bacon or Smoked NZ King Salmon). Served with two poached eggs, grilled asparagus and house yuzu hollandaise. Corn Fritter (Signature Special) – Served with guacamole and yoghurt. Oreo Shake – Vanilla Ice cream, crushed oreos, whipped cream & fudge sauce
We were really impressed with each of the dishes. Not only were they presented beautifully; every element on each dish was perfect. The service was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, especially to the kids.
Located nearby Junction Skate & BMX park and several playgrounds, you will need no further excuses to drop into Shanklin Café after some fun out with the kids. Booking via their website is recommended to avoid a wait. Thank you for generous invite and...
Read moreot my first time at Shanklin, and definitely not my last. I had such an excellent meal here, and was looking forward to be wowed again.
The vibe at Shanklin is often buzzing, especially on weekends. People love it here and it's not hard to imagine why. Staffs welcome everyone with open arms, and despite the crowds, it still feels homely here.
Now on to the food. My Acai Smoothie Bowl came with the largest dollop of peanut butter ever. I knew it was going to be good when it arrived on the table and I was proven right. Smooth and creamy blended acai, crunchy granola, fresh fruits and as previously mentioned, peanut butter all provided a myriad of contrasting yet complementing textures and flavours.
The Nutella Pancakes was what dreams are made of. I just had to steal a bite. Soft fluffy pancakes with Nutella oozing out from within. The Oreo crumble, or more like soil, added an extra level of chocolatey goodness, and the strawberries and raspberry compote helped balanced out the sweetness of the dish.
Speaking of Nutella, they are doing a special Nutella Milkshake that is out of this world. It's akin to drinking liquid Nutella, and while it's not for everyone, sweet tooths will love this.
Everyone else that I was with enjoyed their own dish, and the Nourish Bowl deserved a mention for its generous portion. Nourishing and...
Read moreWe finally got the chance to visit the highest rated cafe in Melbourne after many months of lockdown. It is a very nice cafe seated away from Hawthorn’s hustle & bustle serving amazing food and drinks. We ordered:
🥘 Beirut Breakfast (Big Breakfast) 🍤 Chilli Prawn Scramble 🥞 Nutella Pancakes ☕ Iced Turkish Delight Latte 🥤Monte Fresco (Fresh Ginger, crushed mint leaves & fresh apple juice) 🥤Espresso Milkshake
Classic Melbourne Breakfast with a Lebanese (and Middle Eastern) twist. Chilli Prawn Scramble was very tasty and served with generous jumbo banana prawns. It wasn't spicy at all (for our tastebud at least) so it should suits everyone - flawless dish.
If you are super hungry, we'd recommend Beirut Breakfast - absolute madness in terms of serving with two poached eggs, spicy sujuk, buttered thyme mushroom and many more ingredients - all working absolutely harmoniously. We're a huge fan of the spicy sujuk, really lift the whole plate up.
☕️ Turkish Delight Latte is a must! And make sure you order the cold version as the owner recommended to us. There are other interesting drinks on the menu too if you are feeling a bit adventorous.
Food, service and drinks were all on point - a bit pricey compared to other cafes but the portion is massive. A must visit to try...
