Delightful tasting bahn mi - made by experienced hands. Roast beef, $8.50 (Sep '24). Update: I went back a second time and dayum(!) they make some of the best bahn mi's I've ever had! 10/10 totally recommend! Aside: I had always thought the word "Tabac" meant "Tobacco" in French, but as this store sells bahn mi, but no tobacco, I thought maybe it meant something different in this context. So, I asked the Vietnamese woman behind the counter, but she didn't know. So I ask computer. Computer say: --- "Tabac" is French for "tobacco." In France, "Tabacs" are small shops that traditionally sold tobacco products, but over time, they expanded to sell a variety of items like newspapers, snacks, and even drinks. It’s possible that the bakery near your house borrowed the name as a nod to French culture, which influenced Vietnam during the colonial period. Although the bakery doesn’t sell tobacco, the name could be a playful or nostalgic reference to the old French-style "Tabacs" which were often community hubs. --- Computer is delightful.

12/7/25 - 3.5 stars Definitely spoiled for choice in Springvale if you want banh mi so deciding can be hard. Bun bun's line can be a bit long and I was told this place right next door is not bad so gave it a try. Overall impression is that its ok, but, not excellent. Honestly looks quite ghetto from outside with the neon sign, but, otherwise just like any other Viet bakery inside. Service is quite quick and ingredients look fresh. Crackling Pork Bread: S+, 8.5/10. Had gotten a little cold by the time I ate it, but, still quite good Pork: SS, 9/10. Quite generous and the meat was tender. Crackling solid. Garnish: A, 7/10. Lettuce is a bit weird. Not really any pickles? Condiments: A, 7/10. Chilli was hot but couldn't really taste the pate. Texture: A, 7/10. Ok, but was a bit dry. I don't usually get butter, but, even so, this was dry. Value: A, 7/10. $10

I'm so happy that they don't include the entire spring onion stalk in their rolls. Maybe that's the most authentic way? For the crispy pork roll, while it could benefit from a bit more pate and chili, it truly stands out with its incredibly crispy skin and high-quality pork. It's packed with a combination of meat, veggies, and pickles, resulting in a burst of flavor in every bite. Just $9, it's an excellent value, and for an extra $3, you can even indulge in double the meat, which is already generous in the standard roll. Comparing it to Bun Bun is a tough call. Both places offer great banh mi, but it ultimately comes down to personal preference. I, for one, am not particularly fond of the BBQ sauce from Bun Bun. Personally, I lean more towards Tabac when it comes to crispy pork banh mi.

The menu is just hella confusing as you have bacon and egg roll on your all day menu without saying breakfast only I drove 20 min to get just that walked in there was a guy in front of me and a few more people came in after me and when it was my turn to be served she didn’t want to serve me as she kept looking and acknowledging the guy that came in after me even he was like the girl was first but seems like she wanted to serve him and everybody else that came in after me I’m guessing she knew the guy that was behind me so she disregarded customer service and disregarded what lining up was she was so rude when I was making my order she didn’t even look at me as she was too busy smiling at the guy behind me and to top it off she says no more egg and bacon didn’t explain why and from what I can see it’s on there all day menu mind you it was 12pm and I drove 20 min for nothing and don’t even get me started with the parking on top of that I had to experience such rude and presumptuous attitude that clearly had no experience or any idea about customer service she was just super rude about it her attitude was almost like your in the way of me talking to my friend so I have no intentions or interest in serving you and before I can even say okay can I get the banh mi she was already serving and taking to her friend which was the guy behind me I will never ever buy from you guys again and I will make sure that I spread the words to my friends and family to let them know the horrible experience I had to endure in that bakery so no one else will go there and be treated like that I mean your a bakery not the hiltons you guys behaving like this you will start loosing business and hope you shut...

Its not 1994 anymore! Why the abysmal state of packaging when ordering via delivery.....?

Tabac bakery on uber eats. Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures of food! I would say DO NOT order delivery here! Pick it up yourself. I orderd cold pork roll and a kebab skewer. Paid the $2 extra for the right bagging(service fee). What did I get? an open plastic bag with food sticking out. No staples, no sticky tape, NOTHING. worst packaging I've ever seen. Complete disregard for standardisation.

Value of the food itself for the price you pay is decent. The taste is there, the packaging is not.

Cold pork roll.. good size somewhat soggy since they used cucumber .. Also, wrote extra pate, didnt get it. Dont think you'll get customisation from here via delivery. typically extra pate is .50ents, maybe go in store and ask...

Kebab skewer for $5.80 was good enough in size, tasty but very oily! Would buy again if less oil residue but I don't see that happening.

If you really like the food, pick it up yourself. Not worth the risk via delivery. Terrible packaging. Worst...
