Came in on a Monday morning - approaching lunch time. Came in to get some work done while having a bite to eat. Tatin had so many sweet (croissants, tarts, donuts etc.) and savoury pastries (pies, baguettes, wraps etc.) to choose from. I went for a baguette sandwich and took some chocolate croissants for take away. The baguette was very fresh - as were the ingredients. I went for an Avo Chicken filling with cheese. Staff offered to toast it which made it taste even better. It’s a very generous size. I ended up leaving the other half for later. Staff were really friendly and offered alternatives if your choice wasn’t available (I originally wanted an avo chicken wrap, but they suggested the baguette as there was no wrap prepared yet).

Down side: Seating is very limited inside. There is one big table in the corner, and the remainder are small round tables along bench seating and 2 additional stools beside them. Outside had a couple of bigger tables with umbrellas/shelter. It was cold when I arrived so I didn’t feel like sitting outside. As the round tables are so small, it was difficult to fit a laptop on there + my food and drink so I utilised the bench seating beside me instead.

Additional comments: It got really busy during lunch time - there was a queue forming for takeaway coffee and quick bites to eat. There is a bathroom. There is limited parking but easy enough, as there is a residential street...

Tatin is hands down the best French Bakery/Patisserie going around. It's not in my direct area but it is well worth the drive from Surrey Hills. It ticks all the boxes, with the most important being the food. Everything I've tried there is good from the pies, sausage rolls to the pastries, escargot, bread & butter pudding, the multi-grain bread & baguettes. Having read other reviews I'm (very!) surprised by some negative reviews in relation to service. Every time I have been there (easily over 50 times now) the service is very friendly, courteous and efficient. It can get very busy (...because it is very popular!!) but the staff are there in the right number and the wait is never long and the order is assembled quickly. I can't help thinking that when it comes to service there...as customers if we treat them the right way and look after them, they will look after us. Do yourself a favour and make a visit there, and you won't be disappointed. Rob "the...

I've been a regular customer at Tatin Pastries in Balwyn North for over three years, and as a self proclaimed connoisseur of coffee (hey, aren't we all here in Melbourne!?) along with other fine foods and pastries, Tatin is without doubt the best in the area, baking some of the finest breads, pies (the chicken & mushroom pies are an absolute must!!) and pastries in Melbourne. Their baguettes with various fillings (fresh or toasted) are also amazing, and their coffee is great too (Allpress!). In fact, everything they craft is to perfection, and their consistency is spot on, every time. If that's not enough, Oliver and the team are always there to greet you with a smile or a joke, making a visit to Tatin a highlight of your day. At peak times there can be a short wait in line, but don't let that deter you - it's well worth it. As another great Melbournian once said, "do...

As the children grow into adults, finding time to be together at the same time becomes increasingly more challenging. So we all agree to enjoy Sunday morning danishes together. Every Sunday, Danishes. I could cross the road to the bakery but why do that when there are far more superior options available at Tatins? Now I may only have two children but it seems Sunday mornings I have more

what an amazing way to connect with loved ones. I’ll vouch for the danishes as well as every other delight Tatin offers. Shh don’t tell anyone but occasionally there may be a family size quiche served for Sunday dinner. It’s not home made, but it tastes as good and a little bit more amazing. If you haven’t been, just try; you’ll be back.

i would highly recommend this French Bakery to anyone. Me and my husband are always greeted with a warm friendly smile and a chat from the manager who works there. Today i had a prosciutto baguette and let me tell you the baguette was the best ive had since travelling to Paris. They definitely have a winner here with their baguettes ,the crunchiness the flavour the crisp crust is out of this world. This place had lots to choose from ,sandwiches, baguettes, pastries, pies, fresh juices and an array of desserts. Well Done TATIN. You deserve 5 STARS *****
