Very disappointed. We've been to this restaurant a few times over the last few years and the food has always been of a very high standard. Well presented and very tasty. 5 star ratings in the past but not anymore. I came here on Saturday night (13th June 6:30pm booking) with my Thai friend. I've been bragging about how good the food is here. We were both in for a shock. We waited for 40 minutes before the first meal came out. Pla Liu Suan. I thought this was ok and a little sour tasting but still nice. The fish was slightly over cooked but still ok. My friend said the flavor is too sour. 3 out of 5 stars. The Pineapple fried rice was a meal to die for in the past. But on Saturday it didn't look as nice as in the past and there was little or no flavor. It was very bland and just not enjoyable to eat. We were very disappointed. 1 Star. Lastly we were served Tom Yum Prawns. Again we were let down. The flavor was just ok but was very watery. And sadly it was almost cold. Very I enjoyable to eat. We couldn't finish it. My friend was going to have a banana fritter but after 3 disappointing meals she didn't want to waste more time here. What has happened to this restaurant? The food used to superb. Read my rpevious review below. I don't think we will return here or recommend to friends. There are many better alternatives. Compare photos from 2018 to last night. No comparison. 2018 review. Best Thai fusion in Melbourne. 5 stars !!! My whole family came here for a family birthday party. They were having a having a promotion with huge discounts which was a bonus. The food was amazing. Masterchef style presentation with taste to go hand in hand. I love a good Tom Yum and all are very poor in Australia. But here it's actually close to what you would get at a decent Thai restaurant. Crispy pork was crispy and tasty. Deserts were spot on. The pictures tell the story. All the food tasted as good as it looked. The overall bill came to $185 but reduced to $105 for 4 people. Highly recommend this place to anyone that love Thai food with a modern touch.

Visited today as my group and I were craving some good Thai food. We have never been here before and thought we could trust the reviews online. Sadly this is not the case 😔 We ordered Thai tasting menu for entree which comes with assorted fried Thai dishes. When we ate it, it just didn't taste fresh. The salad that they used to present on the plate were also not fresh. For mains, we ordered green curry with beef, pineapple fried rice with chicken, Pad Thai chicken and jungle pork belly. Review as follows: Green Curry: probably the best of the lot and that's not a compliment. The vegetables used are old, beef is fried and the curry itself is bland Pineapple fried rice: they have unfortunately seasoned this with too much curry powder and too much tumeric. The rice is very wet and it just didn't taste like what you'd expect from a regular pineapple fried rice. Jungle Pork Belly: after eating this, you'll feel like you are loss in the jungle. The shrimp paste and tamarind is very over powering and the fried pork is dry and some parts were burnt Last but not least, the grand daddy pad Thai. You guys know when you crave a good pad Thai. You are expecting a delicious noodle dish that encompasses the thai flavours. You want saltiness, sweetness, sourness and umani. Toss that together with some protein, tofu, chives, egg, peanut and bean sprouts. It's heaven. Well not here at Thai Ute. While they boast an award winning pad Thai, what came out was anything but a pad Thai. I have attached the photos for you all to see. The noodles are all mushed, there are bits of old salad, everything tasted over sweet and over salty. It just wasn't right. And to top it off, it cost $24 for a pad Thai. Total robbery for what we got. Overall we spent over $110 for food that was below par. The positive i can give is that service was ok and decor was ok as well. Other than that I don't think we'll come back based on this experience.

My partner and I went to Thai Ute for the first time last evening. The place is very well presented, decor is great and it wasn't noisy. Very spacious and plenty of room, the table for 2 was large enough for our share plates and drinks without any difficulty. The staff were awesome and friendly, all of them, it was so refreshing to have staff that behaved like you were a valued customer and take time with you, it reminded me of dining in Thailand with their friendliness (unlike the usual disdain you get in Australia). Our food - We had the chicken spare ribs for entree, they were quite spicy, but very delicious, next we had their version of Pad Gad Pow Gai which was the chili basil chicken, it was quite different to that you get in Thailand, but very nice, we got medium spice and it was still quite spicy (which I like, but my partner is a little sensitive to, but she loved it) and we also had the garlic pepper beef, tender and very nice. All the food was beautifully presented. The only criticism we had was that they had run out of my partners preferred drink (Yarra Valley apple cider), but we didn't mark down for that as the wine my partner had for her back up choice was still great. I had a couple of local Yarra Valley IPA beers, great beer. This is my new favorite local Thai place, just awesome, I will return next week and cant wait to try the cauliflower soup KHOB KHUN CAB to all at Thai Ute
