The Fat Goat is an absolute gem in the hills — the kind of place that immediately feels like home, with a vibe that’s genuinely hard to match. It’s warm, laid-back, and buzzing with the kind of energy that draws people in and keeps them coming back.
They don’t serve food directly, but that’s part of the charm. Instead, they’ve teamed up with some of the delicious local eateries, making it easy to order in or do a quick pickup from the lively strip just outside. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, dumplings, burgers, or something gourmet, the options are plenty. You can even bring your own food if you prefer, which makes for a really flexible and relaxed experience.
The drink selection is outstanding — a thoughtfully curated fridge full of local and international wines and craft beers to take home or enjoy on site. They also have a rotating tap selection with some brilliant brews you can enjoy at the bar, plus a cocktail menu that is surprisingly impressive for a local haunt. Their cocktails are balanced, creative, and consistently delicious.
What really sets Fat Goat apart though is the community vibe. They regularly host events like trivia nights and board games, which are not only a blast but a great way to meet some of the beautiful locals that make the Hills so special. It’s more than just a bar — it’s a gathering space.
And the service? Top-notch. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Whether you’re a regular or walking in for the first time, you’re treated like part of the family.

Read moreAfter pre-booking a table for three we were directed to a tiny table in the corner of the outdoor area suitable for two. Wasn't told how to order. Waited maybe 20 minutes without anyone attending to us. When we went to walk in to order something we were stopped and the staff took us back to our table where an uncomfortable and awkward exchange occured. We ordered the tasting paddle to start with as we planned to figure out what to order later. The staff member asked us if that was it flatly as if we were required to order more to begin with. Then after our drinks came were ignored for another half an hour until I had to actually wave at a staff member to get another drink. Pretty clear that we wouldn't be receiving any recommendations on alcohol or service in any way fitting a pub that only serves alcohol so after an arduous experience, we left. Would have given zero stars but Google...
Read moreQuaint publet selling craft beer. Seats outside and on deck outside, some seats inside. Byo food. Not a great deal of heating, so will need to rug up on cool winter's night. However, on a warm summer night it would be fine and very busy. On the night we visited, it was busy, due to a brother and sister duo called Grace-well making their debut. The bar service was very friendly, helpful and fast. I must compliment them on that. (Suggestion: maybe a small menu from either a local fish and chips or pizza shop would boost both businesses). It was a good night's entertainment at a small publet. If the entertainment is as good as it was on the night we visited, then I would thoroughly recommend you...
