This morning I received the worst customer service I have encountered at a restaurant in a very long time. Having ordered 2 side dishes and toast I was charge $21.90 - This being a regular breakfast for me at other restaurants I queried this price as it seemed very high. In short I was told that although the sides could be added to a meal they could not be bought separately so I was charged for a meal with eggs and then the cost of the sides was added! I was told, by an incredibly rude young lady, that this 'had' to be done in this way as their till could not calculate just 2 sides and toast!! At no point when I ordered was I told I would need to pay more for my meal as they couldn't put what I wanted through on the till. I mentioned that they simply couldn't charge customers more because they didn't have a setting on their till to which the reply was ( very rudely) 'Yes we can, we do it all the time ........' she then went on to tell me how they charge a regular customer more, in the same way, every day!! I was not prepared to pay more than the menu prices for my meal so I asked to speak to the manager , the reply was ' well you can but she is going to tell you the exact same thing!' This young lady could simply not comprehend why I was questioning being charged more than the prices listed on the actual menu and the way she was handling a very simple customer concern was utterly appalling. The manager came and was very polite. She sorted out the problem within minutes and refunded me the amount that I was overcharged. Following this very unpleasant encounter I would never bring my family back to eat at Groove Train again and I would advised anyone else, to check...
Read moreHad the $25 Special Scotch Fillet & Larger Deal on Wednesday 27th November for a change as i usually go for their fish dishes and my partner went for the Calamari dish which I enjoy there too. I had Scotch Fillet steak at home which we could have had that night but decided to go out instead and we were glad we did.
I was expecting a small piece but was presented with what seemed a double scotch on top of chips and a plentiful supply of salads and cucumber with some special dressing. I asked for medium and it came out beautifully cooked and succulent and not sure what the chef uses but i'd like them to cook for me at home because I absolutely enjoyed that Scotch fillet.
We started visiting several months ago just after they opened and have been increasingly visiting more often, it getting busier and i find some of the previous comments bizarre because the manager and staff are always pleasant and attentive. The staff are like attentive meerkats always on the lookout for customer needs taking order quickly, asking if we would like drinks etc very attentive well dressed in black. Well Done
We tried to get into that American bar restaurant next door some time ago but were rejected claiming it was booked out when it did not look like it so never bothered to try that one again. We sometimes go to Pancake Parlour and previously Hunky Dory in the plaza area. There are plenty of choices at Eastland & North & East Ringwood to serve every need. Lets face it where can you go out and not need to worry about parking officers wanting to tax diners for daring to go out to a main street restaurant? Anyway highly recommend diners at least try Groove...
Read moreToday's (18 July 2025) Rib Eye Steak was a major disappointment. We always come here every other Friday for the steaks. You could scroll to my previous post how gorgeous it used to be. But today, I could not finish it. I was shocked to see how charred it was when the lovely waitress first served it. We were told it was a new thing they started doing, by adding sauce to it. I was hungry and gave it a go anyway. The meat was tough, I had problem chewing eventhough I still have my full set of real teeth. And it was bitter too. Zero meat taste. I stopped gaslighting myself and admited it was really bad and stopped eating it. We told the lovely waitress the truth when she asked how everything was, that it was bad. I showed her the photo I took on my older review on Google, and how gorgeous that was and that was reason why we keep coming back to Groove Train Eastland. Then compared that old photo with the one we had today. There was no denying, how extremely different they were. We were then told they recently changed meat supplier. I told them they should not have tried to improved on perfection. I should have trusted my gut feel today the moment I saw the coat of charred sauce on my meat. What was hiding underneath that charred sauce? Big slab of bitter charred disappointment. I am so gutted now that I have to look for another place for a lovely steak, when Groove Train Eastland have always been my go to place for a "lovely Rib Eye and Shiraz on Friday evening". You might like to try their other dishes though. I have not tried them. But steak definitely a major no for me...
