Waku Waku specialise in Hokkaido Soup Curry and Iâm happy to see that they have expanded their menu a lot more than what they had a year ago. When I last had Waku Waku, it was their CBD store when they first opened. I was very impressed with the quality of the food as well as the taste.
This time I brought my hard critic along (my boyfriend). This is what we thought.
Chicken Soup Based Ramen with Truffle Oil ($21) - I wasnât expecting the ramen to come with the big fat piece of chicken. Creamy Coconut Soup curry ($1) with Tempura Prawn ($19.5) - The boys devoured this one up and said it was so good that they wouldâve liked more. Sukiyaki Udon ($17.5) - I really liked the bouncy chew of the noodles and the amount of sliced beef that came with it. Pork Gyoza ($10) - These were super juicy and just filled with delicious filling. Tonkatsu curry chips ($12) - This alone was pretty good, came with a nice juicy piece of tonkatsu and sooo much curry at the bottom of the chips. Chicken Karaage with Truffle mayo ($9.5) - Super crispy and the truffle mayo was delicious. Cans ($3.5) - we tried 3 cans of their Japanese tea and they were pretty standard.
Overall, an affordable eats that serve delicious...

We got the signature Hokkaido soup curry with karage chicken and tempura veggies; and Omurice with slow cooked beef.
The overall taste was great and very homey. The deep fried items were freshly fried and they were delicious. The karage chicken was still very hot and juicy and all of the veges were sweet and they were perfect to dip into the soup curry. The soup curry tasted like typical Japanese curry, not spicy but distinctly Japanese.
The omurice was comfortable tasting, the rice was lightly sauced with tomato sauce I think? The slow cooked beef however is the highlight of the dish. Plenty tender and very savoury.
We went back to get Hokkaido soft serve, we got both the Hokkaido milk and the strawberry flavors, both of them were absolutely delicious. The aftertaste of milk and strawberry was so rich it was a very...
