May 2023: 5 stars All you can eat is back. From $32 weekdays for a 1.5 hour sitting. Cash only. ‐--‐--------------------------------------------------------------------------- April 2021: 4 Stars All you can eat option no longer available! Early 2020: 5 Stars With over 140 dishes on offer, Block 7 Dumplings has a dish for everyone. Choose from a la carte or the 'all you can eat' options for lunch - $30 Mon-Fri, $34 Sat-Sun & Public Holidays and $50 for dinner. Kids prices also available. Set within a relaxed and vibrant environment, the quality is authentic Chinese cuisine with excellent service to match. Seating ranges from 2-up to several large round tables seating 10-12 and also an outside area. Serving sizes are generous and reasonably priced, particularly the 'all you can eat' Lunch option. $50 for 'all you can eat' dinner is however certainly at the top end! Ordering is very simple - select your dish number from the menu and add to the list along with the number of serves (see pic). Tonight's selection included: 128. Steamed Prawn Dumplings 127. Steamed Prawn and Pork Dumplings 187. Roast Duck on Rice 277. Prawn with Cashew Nuts 351. BBQ Pork PS: there are no rest rooms within the restaurant - nearest ones are up the escalators, directly opposite.

The Block 7 Dumplings in Eastland is an amazing place to lose money and get food poisoning for free. If the poorly cooked chicken wontons in chilli oil don't fit your sickness level, the chicken fried dimsims with chilli mayo may just do you in. Let's not forget the worst vegetable spring rolls ever made and the oil pockets so hot and messy that even one whole tissue from the restaurant wouldn't be enough to absorb it from just one spring roll, heart attack guaranteed. Let's take a moment to remember the unspicy chilli oil. But i wouldn't begrudge the oolong tea, it had barely any involvement from the restaurant thus was actually the saving grace. Dear God, Puke alert, let me end this review before I throw up. 1 month later: the place has added a feedback for the review, to not comeback. Fun place unwilling to improve or be clean and cook properly.

I was here 4 years ago and wasn’t too impressed last time, found the roast pork skin wasn’t crispy. Decided to come back as a friend kept saying this place is so good. Went again recently and disappointed again. Had their spicy pork ribs which was bland for me, had much better ribs in other places. Also had stir fry seasonal veggies with tofu and that was really bland too, only the tofu was quite nice. Spicy and sour soup was really nice. Staff very attentive. Dishes sizes were quite big so even just two of us couldn’t finish two dishes. But the bill came to almost $40 per head so that was rather expensive lunch. Won’t come back again.

I went to Block 7 Dumplings today, after eating a moderate amount yesterday and only having 1 cup of grapes for breakfast. But I felt bloated from eating too much. The food itself was great but I regret eating too much. But of course, that is my fault. On the positive side, at least I didn't need to bother cooking anything for dinner.

I read all the google reviews and reviews on other lists to work out what I wanted. The menu was too big to order everything I wanted, so I had to prioritize.

I went on my own. It would, of course, be ideal to have about 4 people in total to be able to share the dishes and have more variety. With 4 people, there would be 2 dumplings each in most cases.

The $30 all you can eat runs from 11am to 4pm. I guess, in theory, you could stuff yourself for an hour, wait for 3 hours and then order some more.

I'd love it if they catered for single clientelle by having options to have 2 dumpling serves, or perhaps 8 of their most popular different dumplings of different types as a single serve, and smaller servings of other items as well.

BLOCK 7 DUMPLINGS $30 ALL CAN EAT if pay in cash (more for card or on public holiday)

What I ate:

Chilli wonton                                                          $12.40

XLB                                                                           $12.80

Deep fried eggplant                                              $11.80

Pork and chive dumpling                                      $11.30

Combination roast pork, bbq pork ribs, duck   $30.90

Sesame icecream                                                   $5.70

TOTAL                                                                  $84.90 worth of food for $30!

Chilli wonton consisted of wontons in sweet chilli sauce. Not hot (as in spicy hot) at all, which is a good thing in my opinion. The sauce was very good and very tasty. So glad I had this dish, which was recommended by many, and on their list of "specialties". It was something unique.

XLB was dumplings with soup inside. When they cooled down I put whole one in my mouth. Feel explosion of the soup and then enjoy the dumpling. So, this was also very good. It was recommended on a lot of review sites as well. Just have to make sure to let them cool down. Can't enjoy them at first because the soup inside is way too hot. I have had similar dumplings to this at Box Hill.

Deep fried eggplant. The eggplant itself had no flavour but outside was crispy and salty. Tasted like it may have had chicken salt or similar (much tastier and nicer than just plain salt). So, pretty good. Also, glad I had this, because recommended by others. It was something a bit different. Kind of like eggplant fries/chips.

Pork and chive dumpling was pretty good. Like a standard dumpling of this type. But I regret having it. Just standard dumpling. And pushed me to being too full. But then again, it was recommended by someone and their pork dumplings were generally recommended by a few people.

Combination of roast pork, bbq pork and duck was nice. Came with very good sweet chilli sauce to dip in. But too much for one person. I also enjoyed this very much. The BBQ pork ribs had a crispy skin (and fat, which I left) and the roast pork and roast duck very nice. There was just too much meat for one person, and since I ordered this toward the end I was struggling to eat it all and towards the end, eating it more because I had to.

Sesame icecream was too hard. Almost rock hard. Had strong flavor. A bit like a nut flavour. Enjoyed the unique flavour, despite being too hard. So, glad I had this. Gave me two scoops in two bowls. I'm glad I ordered dessert, even though I was pretty stuffed at this stage, I still enjoyed it.

There is loads on the menu to keep you coming back!

Updated October 2023. New rules: minimum 2 people now and must finish all food...

This so-called Chinese joint? A freakin’ disaster! I ordered the chicken, and it tasted like a decaying fish that had been left out to rot for weeks – and that’s putting it mildly. Found out from the waiter that they change their cooking oil just once a week and they cook all the different meats in there, including fish. Are you kidding me? The oil’s basically a week old cesspool, with fish, pork, beef, ducks and who knows what else taking a swim. Disgusting!

Also the dumplings were like relics from the Stone Age, waiter told me they were whipped up four days prior. When I called them out on this garbage, demanding a refund, they acted like I was asking for their firstborn. Pretty sure that’s breaking some Aussie consumer laws, absolutely farking feral!!!!

The food was beyond vile. Picture dumpster juice with a side of rotting fish in your chicken – that’s what I was dealing with. Two of us that were dining there both couldn’t even stomach the chicken; it was that nasty. And the so-called customer service? A complete joke. No refund, no discount, just a big “screw you.”

This dump doesn’t deserve a single star – it deserves a one-way ticket to oblivion. Hopefully these freaks leave so a legit Chinese joint can take its place. This restaurant wouldn’t even last one week it was in Glen Waverley Or Box Hill It’s a culinary atrocity, and I can’t fathom why anyone would willingly subject themselves to this abomination. They’re cooking, oil is literally a week old soup of multiple rotting animal carcasses. Then they have the nerve to actually put food in there and sell it to people....

Food is amazing. We got the eat all you can deal and it is so worth it for the price being freshly made. The staff were a bit iffy though when we ordered a lot even though there was 11 of us. You guys should say the time limit, some precautions on food wastage, and other rules you have on eat all you can. I’d give this place a 2 stars for service but I’m giving it 4 only because the food was amazing… also, pay your staff on awards, I’ve heard gossip that you don’t.

EDIT: my family came here for my sister’s dinner and was met with awful service. My family frequents this place for good food and for family events however today was not it. You did gave us all our food but neglected the rice. As a fellow Asian you should know that rice and protein go hand in hand. When we inquired about the fried rice the lady at the front cancelled it even thought we didn’t ask for it to be canceled. The same lady was extremely rude to to my family. Maybe she owns the place? A family member but her actions was not ok.

We love coming to this place and we have spent a significant amount of money at this place. Do better. Know you regulars who spends hundreds of dollars in one dinner. We don’t need the attitude which the lady gave us. Personally, I will still continue coming here because of our past great experiences. However, if I come back here and see that rude woman again, I will be...
