I've put a lot of thought and consideration in posting this Scathing review. 0/5 Stars!! I Have been a loyal patron of TKFB since 2019 when I moved in to the local area, the food has always been *fine but the service hit and miss with incorrect orders and occasionally short changed, but look mistakes can and will happen I can accept that, however what I witnessed a few nights ago made me feel sick to my stomach so much so I'll never go back. While I was waiting for my order along with several others a man approx 40 years old enters the shop, he looked to be soaking wet (was raining heavily that day) he was noticeably shivering cold, he lined up and waited his turn, a junior female approx 16-17yo serves the man who quietly asks how much minimum chips were to which the girl replied $6.00 the man politely asked if she could do possibly do $3.00 worth as that's all the money he had and was starving for a hot meal, standing there shivering in front of this girl she coldly replied, no sorry $5.00 is the best we can do and CAN'T DO ANY LESS. The clearly dejected man quitely pleads with the girl tells her how much he'd appreciate it just this once, however less than moved by his plea she coldly replies this time with increased volume for the entire shop to hear, "Like I said "There's nothing we can do" which is complete and utter garbage and anyone older than 30 will remember not that long ago when minimum chips was only $1 and you'd get a good helping for that dollar. $6.00 is outrageous for min chips! What disgusted me even more was after this starving demoralised man had left the shop with his head hung low the young girl along with some of the senior male staff laughed the whole thing off making tasteless snide jokes under their breath, I wasn't the only customer to witness this disgusting treatment of a fellow human being. Soon as my order number was called I had a quick look around the shopping centre car park but was unable to find him, undoubtedly embarrassed by his extreme financial predicament and then having what little pride demolished by a high school girl in front of a shop full of customers I don't blame him making a hasty exit not wanting to be seen. The girl didn't even bother asking her boss if they could do $3 worth chips on this occasion, clearly the man was in need of a hot meal and only had $3.00 in change. For a busy successful and profitable business to look someone less fortunate dead in the eyes and say no sorry there's "Nothing we can do" instead of telling him the truth "No mate not interested Kingfisher Blue is not a charity and we have NO interest in giving back to those less fortunate individuals in our community despite having profited off the community for years. Where's the humanity in 2023? When did we become so greedy and cold?? He wasn't asking for free food, he simply asked for less than $6.00 worth that he could pay for. This was inexcusable and really exposed the ugly side of the individuals working that evening. I honestly don't know how this fish and chip shop has been voted the best fish and chips in Victoria.. The service was incredibly poor despite 8 people working. Not one person even smiled or greeted me as I walked in. I was told that my order would be 15 minutes so I arrived after 15 minutes and asked for my order only to be told it's not ready yet. Wait for 35 minutes before an angry lady went over the orders sitting on the counter and started calling out order names. MY ORDER WAS SITTING THERE THE WHOLE TIME! To top it off when I went to pay the girl rudely says to me "This is cash only". There were no signs anywhere that states it's cash only and what kind of a business in this day and age doesn't accept card??? Worst service and my fish and chips were cold and soggy. Totally the worst souvlaki I’ve ever had in my life literally I paid $53.70 for three Slovakia and the meat looked terrible on the rotisserie dry and didn’t look healthy. I should’ve had my gut feeling especially when I discussed it with a girl on the counter. It looked old and then when I got home my 2 son did not eat the meat. It looked terrible. It tasted terrible. I was so looking forward to having it. I was shocked when I opened it up and it was like a dog’s breakfast so very sad. Do not waste your time and money. I think they’re only good for fish and chips but that’s about it seriously.
