Edit: wow you did get upset judging by your defensive posture. A simple apology would have been sufficient. 3 people witnessed your condescending demeanour on the day and your staff member was not bullied in the slightest, look up the definition of the word before you miss use it, I find it repulsive being miss used. Your staff member could not answer the question so she got her manager. After a ridiculous discussions about bread which you perpetuated, you finally admitted you had not supplied white bread in the past but had in-fact been serving us gluten-free bread, very deceptive and diducukas you have allowed it to get to this point over something so petty.
Maybe a few courses on customer service, customer centricity and conflict resolution would be a good idea. All of the below still stands and nothing you have said has helped defuse the situation and my opinion on your cafe and service, in particular management, good job.
Your claims about Sam and her daughter, hmmm. Very different to what Sam told me. This is not the right forum for those discussions.
If you had simply apologised for your poor service I would have added a star or two but now I wish I could give ZERO stars.
Original review...
I remember a sign on this cafe window saying closed for reservations. The renovations must have been so good I could not even tell they were done.
We have been coming to this cafe since it opened and even though the new owners promise the same food and service unfortunately this is not the case. The food is mostly the same as the chef is original but the service and customer service are lacking.
Customer service is 50% of why we liked this cafe. Unfortunately one of the owners was very condescending to us after we asked a simple question. We were made to feel that their mistake was our mistake for even asking. We were not rude in asking but they were certainly rude in answering.
The service is also very lacking compared to what it was. It now takes twice as long to bring meals and drinks to the table or takeaways as it use to. We also really appreciated the service and conversation from Samantha. It is people like Sam that turn an average cafe into an experience you want to come back to. On our last visit, we noticed Sam was not there, fortunately, I meet Sam on the way home and she was reduced to tears about how she was treated by the owners. Her description of her ordeal mirrored closing with what I had just experienced.
Unfortunately, without this brilliant service of people like Sam, the food is only average at best. The menu like the reservations is very stale and old, having bearly changed for the year.
You lost very good customers simply because your customer service is not befitting the industry you work in and needs improvement. I will never again be back at your cafe. This is only my personal opinion about this business,...
Read moreI'm one of those people that reads the reviews before choosing a place to eat, and with such good reviews, I had high expectations. That being said, they delivered, Thirtyfold you could say.
The staff here are super friendly and hand us the menus. These clearly reflect a sense of pride, they are laminated and clean with no scribbled corrections, nothing worse than being handed dirty menus, torn and soggy.
We started with coffees, and I'm very particular when it comes to it. Large, weak caramel lattè. The coffee is out to us before we pour the glass of table water. The mug comes out and she certainly is large. I'm thinking to myself "There is no way I'm finishing this". Cheeky little sip and I notice the hint of something sweet in there, it's butterscotch. I'm in ecstasy, finishing this is going to be a breeze.
Next up is the food. Spicy Shakshuka for my partner and the Beef Brisket Benedict for myself. The staff here tell us the Shakshuka will take 15 minutes to cook as its fresh from the oven, And sure enough in 15 minutes, both meals are steaming in front of us.
The Beef Brisket Benedict is something to write home about. The perfect amount of spice to go with the gorgeous and gentle hollandaise. Both complementing the perfectly poached eggs that sit glistening atop of an apple slaw and a golden toasted sourdough slice.
If you prefer a little more spice to your breakfast wake up, then the Shakshuka is your go to. The spices are not over powering but give you the kick you need. The chorizo is toasted to give you the crispy texture your craving. The quality Feta is an addition but gives you the cool, creamy contrast to add to the rich and thick tomato sauce. The sourdough comes on the side to help you polish your plate clean.
The staff don't pester you on your first mouthful, but their attention can be easily gained for any of your desires.
Was it worth it? Yes. Will I be back? Certainly yes. There is a whole menu waiting to be tried, and I'll be sure to be back. Think I found my new favourite go-to...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with my experience this morning. I booked a table for 6 at 11am for Mother’s day. After arriving at the restaurant (at 5 minutes past 11) we were told they would need to get the table ready. The frantic staff then started moving tables outside and told another couple who was sitting outside to “hurry up” so that we could have a table. We asked the staff whether or not they actually had our booking, they explained that they did in fact have our booking and had a table set up inside for us, but they had seated someone at our table. They told us to sit on the makeshift dining area outside which had no umbrellas or protection from the sun. We were then told that the clear plastic curtain could be put down as sun protection. Extremely confused and frustrated at the situation we sat waiting while the staff said they would try to get us a table inside as we were very unsatisfied with the table that was made for us as we called in advance to make a booking on such an important day and our table was given to a walk in. The staff member who we dealt with was extremely rude and arrogant. This place is horribly unprepared, confused and unprofessional to say the least. I’m glad that we decided to get up and leave whilst they left us outside to try and rectify this mistake and will be telling every single person to NEVER attend this joke of an...
