Quaint little cafe with Japanese inspired dishes. My Japanese husband and I really enjoyed the karaage bento, matcha latte and matcha and red bean shortcake. Very juicy karaage and the miso soup had a proper 'umami' taste (which is often lacking when dining out in Aus). The drink and dessert were light and not too sweet (the Japanese way). What I really appreciate though, is the quiet and minimalistic but warm atmosphere that you just can't find in cafes over here. I don't like going to cafes much in Aus because people tend to be too loud/a bit obnoxious. Definitely not the kind of atmosphere you'd like to read a book or study in. This is different though. I really hope this place doesn't ever become too crowded! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to trying...

The menu had good variation for a small washoku cafe, and in particular I was glad that there were katsu sando and tamago sando on the menu for a reasonable price. I ordered the karaage bento which was a good amount of food for a lunch, and I really liked the plating.

The customer service was very impressive. As the business grows, I would be very happy to see more wait staff especially around lunch hour.

I might suggest a self-serve corner for cutlery so people can grab either western ones or chopsticks based on their preference. It also might be fun to play around with the names of drinks or food, or the menu design, to go with the name of the cafe. The name was what drew me to the...

I went there on Saturday lunch, the moment I stepped in, the aroma of fresh brewed coffee welcomed.

I absolutely enjoyed a delightful fusion of excellent coffee and Japanese cuisine. The coffee is expertly brewed, and the Japanese dishes are both authentic and inventive. With a cozy ambiance and attentive service, it’s a must-visit for coffee and food lovers alike.

Me and my partner tried Udon, cold noodle, bento box. We also got chicken& fries for my little one. The cafe have good space for the pram, kids menu which is very handy to have brunch with my 3yo daughter who enjoyed Udon noodles, chips and baby chino.

If you are local, or in the vicinity and haven’t been here yet you are probably missing out. This cafe boasts a great menu, of which the chilly scrambled eggs (with the house chilly oil) is a star performer and my personal favourite. The green (or red, if you prefer) smoothies are delicious and sometimes a great replacement for coffee on a sweltering Melbourne afternoon. Located conveniently next to public transport you all have the option of parking on-street (check the signs). I will be back with my guests to savour the other items on the menu. Thank you Uchu Cafe for your ‘service with a smile always’ attitude.

In this modern, simple cafe, we found a range of Japanese favourites to whet the appetite. On this Sunday morning, the place wasn't full but it certainly was by lunch time. Shortly after we ordered, our food arrived on the cutest crockery. My Okonomiyaki pancake was beautifully balanced between veggie, prawns, batter, sauces and Bonito flakes. The sweet, savoury, creamy flavours were really comforting on this winter day. My friend also enjoyed her Teriyaki Salmon Bento, which came with a potato croquette and sweet potato chips. Conclusion: a tasteful cafe with a lot to like.
