Ummah Thai Restaurant Campbellfield — Restaurant in Melbourne

Not sure why this place is rated so highly. We were seated by getting told our table number and flicked a finger to indicate in which direction. After all our guests arrived and had decided what to order, no one had came to take our order, we had to get up and find someone to eventually come and take our order. The food came in after about a 40 minute wait, in dribs and drabs. Our last meal came nearly 2 hours after we had seated and nearly finished sharing our meals. It would have been really sad if we all had individual meals as that person would have been starving. We had to get up and ask again for our drinks and fetch our own water and plastics cups. As the staff were so busy, some of the meals were pretty much thrown at us. The staff did apologise for us waiting, however too many errors were made and the vibe was not pleasant but stressful with the rush the staff were in. So the reason why they were so busy is not because of many customers in the restaurant but because of uber eats orders. So all the meals were going out the door. My rating: 2 stars for nice food. Minus a star for cleanliness and overall vibe. Minus a star for poor customer service. Minus a star for such poor and late food service. Really disappointed. A couple of suggestions for the store: Hire more staff!!! Get people to order at the counter. Learn from Papa Rich style concept. If you are going to take so long to bring out the food, let the customers know and offer something on the table as the children were starving. Put the drinks out first. I understand uber eats might be your bread and butter however people have made an effort to visit your store, serve them first! Send your existing staff to learn customer service skills and prioritisation skills. What a shame! Would i recommend this place, no. Would i come here ever again, no Would i uber eats...

Service is 0 stars but that option isn't available here, if your really hungry and expecting any service and food you can eat don't go to this place! It is very disappointing to have to write this review, however the service standard and the way order errors and complaints are dealt with is non existent and taking orders only to serve people the wrong food is not acceptable. The last 2 occasions at ummah Thai where not good, 1- we spoke to the ONLY waitress about the menu and discussed the dishes for a good 5 minutes, we ordered as per her recommendation, she repeated the order walked off and after sitting there waiting for this dish for 20mins I had to walk up to ask her where the rice was 'she forgot she said as she laughed and continued her ph call! we didn't receive the dish with the rest of our food, and it was cold! 2-Today the owner came to take our order and again there was no attention paid to our order being what we got served, he had to be corrected 3 times and we ordered BBQ lamb and specifically repeated DO NOT OVER COOK, MEDIUM DONE PLZ and we received a charred/burnt dish which was not chewable, the kitchen read it wrong and we received fried calamari instead of fried chicken wings and the photo of the BBQ calamari which was cold and raw was disgusting, there was no concern by staff or management about the mistakes made, the owner even saying next time he will get it right... Unfortunatley for him there will not be a next time as this level of service and serving food that was not edible or what we orded for $80 isn't good enough. I am all for supporting my Muslim brothers and sisters but...

Ordered online thru Manulog, the delivery man from Ummah sent the food to the wrong house but insisted that he had delivered to the correct address. When Manulog indicated order received, called Ummah Thai, as expected they did not believe that I did not received the order, they think I lied! Later knocked on the neighbour and the mate confirmed that he got free food for dinner. Neighbour said the delivery man just handed the food package to him without confirming the rightful address/orderer and walk away. Neighbour too was downright immoral for accepting and eating the food that was not theirs to begin with (didn’t even offer to pay for the food they’ve taken when confronted). Ummah Thai had not apologised at first instance, had continued to argue and insisted that he had sent to the right address only after they discovered they had made a mistake then it was too late to rectify the matter. It was already very late and our dinner went missing, were hungry/angry. Worst kind of staff attitude (yup neighbour included, what’s wrong with people nowadays). Worst service of an establishment by far. Was promised a refund, we shall see. Ummah Thai just lost five regular customers of theirs. Rude lousy service.
