My recent visit to Westwaters Bistro left me with a sense of disappointment. Working for a luxury hotel myself, I have high standards for service and food quality, and this establishment fell significantly short of those expectations.
We placed an order for drinks, cheesy garlic breads, onion rings, three chicken parmigianas, and fish and chips. The problems began with the timing of our food service. Surprisingly, our garlic breads arrived before our drinks, indicating disorganisation. The situation worsened when our mains arrived, and we received grilled fish instead of the battered fish and chips we had requested. What was truly frustrating was that the waitress attempted to argue that we had ordered grilled fish, even though it was clear that we had not requested it grilled.
The Chicken Parmigianas were far from satisfying; they were thin, dry, and none of us managed to finish our meals. What's more, no staff member checked in with us to enquire about our satisfaction or to address the issues we encountered. Even as we were leaving, no one spoke to us. This lack of acknowledgment and accountability was disappointing, especially given that the restaurant was basically deserted; only one or two other tables had diners, most of whom left during our meal.
To make matters worse, Westwaters Bistro proudly boasts about being an award-winning bistro online. However, the awards they highlight date back to 2011 and 2012. Winning awards from over a decade ago, while commendable, raises questions about its ability to maintain high standards and why it hasn't won again recently. Our experience provided an answer to these questions, as the food quality and service standards did not reflect the level of excellence that an award-winning bistro should uphold.
It's regrettable because Westwaters Bistro is conveniently located near my home and has the potential to be a charming dining spot. However, I would hesitate to return based on this experience. The restaurant needs to reassess its service standards, enhance the quality of its dishes, and invest in staff training to ensure a more enjoyable and satisfying dining experience for its patrons. Boasting about awards from over a decade ago may not accurately represent the current status of the establishment. In a competitive culinary landscape, maintaining high standards and consistently delivering exceptional food and service are essential to remain deserving of any accolades. Westwaters Bistro needs to work on these aspects to regain its reputation as an award-winning...

Been trying to book a room for our function since 1st of February ( exactly one full month ) !!! … first was dealing with Anthony where he provided us with all the menu and all our options and when I asked he mentioned there’s no minimum spending for the room, when I confirmed to finally book, he sent me an email telling me about the minimum spending, I told him he has mentioned no minimum is required previously where he responded with the event manager will contact me as he’s new. Amanda, ( apparently the event manager ) , took her one whole week to get to me, I even had to go in and ask what’s happening, even sent an email reminding them that I’m still waiting for the call…. Finally she called me but wasn’t very professional on the call either by laughing and saying no there was a misunderstanding by Anthony etc ( not even an apology or explaining it nicely ) . anyway I was still happy to spend the money and was waiting for her to send me the invoice… took her another 24 hours to send me the email with the details, and the details on the invoice are incorrect… completely wrong spelling of the name ( even though I spelled it for her and it matches the email address ) i replied to her asking if there was no maximum number for guests as on the invoice it’s written maximum 30 people but on the call she said it doesn’t matter. Also told her how my name has been spelled wrong for the invoice. 6 days passed and I still haven’t received the correct invoice with the right details on it!! If they can’t do a simple invoice correct or give the correct details now how can I trust them with my event that nothing would go wrong and they can be professional / well organised ??? For someone like myself being a manager in retail industry this isn’t how customer service works. Very unprofessional and...
Read moreI've eaten here at the WestWaters Bistro a few times over the years, having moved to Melbourne (Caroline Springs) just a few years ago. I have to say that for what it is, this place tries its best to accommodate you and make you happy.
The staff here are definitely overworked though, but they still serve you with a smile. On most occasions, the food is impeccable and delicious. However, I've noticed of late that when there aren't enough staff to service the Bistro areas, the food is dry and burnt. This is probably due to food being left to the few floor staff who are serving customers at their tables. Understandable that the food has been left at the kitchen and is dry or burnt by the time the staff manage to get around to our own table.
The last two meals I had consisted of steak and seafood pasta for my partner and me. It was delicious on the less busy night, but the steak was dry, and the pasta was cold on a busy night. We counted over 130 customers on the busy night, and there were only 3 waiters! Having run restaurants myself, I felt bad for both the waiters and the cooks in the kitchen. Management should really fix these resourcing issues and stop overworking the staff.
Every time I've been there the staff have been so lovely, but the food has been unpredictable in terms of quality. I think we've worked out the formula: Just go eat there only on nights that are not busy. You will have a great time and be very happy you did. Always avoid the WestWaters Bistro when it's busy!
Either way, thanks for being there for us Westies WestWaters Bistro management, cooks...
