My husband and I went to dinner at L'anima Pizzeria. We have only recently moved to Mitcham so it means it is in walking distance which is great, especially if we have a couple of drinks as they are licensed to serve alcohol. We decided to eat there because my husband loves wood fired pizzas and because it is local to us.
We ordered a scotch and coke for my husband and I ordered a fruit tingle cocktail when we first arrived. I followed this with a glass of wine - the Cardinham Estate Cabernet Merlot which I had with my meal.
My husband ordered the meatlovers pizza which had lots of quality toppings such as shaved ham and hot salami on it and he said it was delicious. I found it hard to decide between the chicken parmigiana, the lasagne or the steak. I ended up having the steak medium well done, because it is served with mash and vegetables which I love. Read moreThis place has reallllly good pizza! It's woodfired, so you know it'll be amazing. But it really is delicious. There is a selection of pastas as well as pizza. There is also a very nice section for vegetarian pizzas, which is highly appreciated. I ordered the Milan, and it had potato, caramelised onion, two different cheeses. It was delicious! The size below is a medium. The prices are pretty good for what you get too. The larges are MASSIVE so if you are hungry (and game!), go for a large! Also had a sticky date pudding for dessert. It was $10, and pretty small, but you got cream and icecream with it. And it was tasty as! Sorbet was a bit cheaper and there was good amount that you get for that one. I highly recommend this place if you feel like a good old woodfired pizza. The waitress was nice, although if I'm being critical, she did interrupt our conversation a number of times to collect plates/ask how things were. But that was the only negative. I will definitely...

We tried the Pizzetta Banana (on the menu described as "sweet pizza with caramelised white chocolate, fresh banana, vanilla bean ice cream, drizzled with a maple syrup and icing sugar") - it lives up to and beyond your expectations.
L'Anima is not a standard pizza shop - there are no $5 pizzas here, but that's not why you're going to go...
