My favourites: premium sotbap (hot stone rice) set and LA galbi! The beef sets feature tender and juicy high quality beef with good marbling.
The grilled beef sotbap has a simple and savoury marinade, smoky grilled flavour which pairs perfectly with the red multigrain rice. The butter and egg yolk toppings add a creamy touch. The soybean soup in the set is full of tofu and seaweed, brewed in a rich, flavourful and light broth.
LA galbi is one of my favourite dishes - the sweet and savoury flavours balance nicely with the sweet grilled onions. The set comes with fresh lettuce to wrap the meat in.
Both sets come with fresh side dishes that change with the seasons and it's exciting looking forward to the new sides. Really loved the quail eggs! The kimchi is fresh with a clean spicy taste.
The Korean fried chicken with snow cheese is crispy on the outside, and the meat is lean with a juicy texture, doesn't feel dry. It's generously topped with cheese. The chicken seems really good and I would be back to try the samgyetang - chicken with ginseng soup.
Corn cheese is a perfect side, it's cheesy and creamy - I personally like having it in a lettuce wrap with galbi, or with the chicken.
The prices are reasonable for premium quality - $32 for 300g galbi - and it's also near Springvale station. Portions are generous, and it's definitely my new favourite Korean restaurant in Springvale.
I've been here once before receiving an invite, the galbi was really good, but the kimchi stew wasn't the best, the flavour was rather mild, but to be fair, I visited pretty late at night (they open until 11pm - perfect for late...
Read moreAmazing new Korean restaurant located on the shopping strip close to Woolsworths. The restaurant is larger than expected and is very modern and clean. Despite the full restaurant, the service was professional and polite. Food also came out very quickly as well. Yoon seems to specialise in premium rice bowl set dishes. Each set comes with grilled rice with a choice of meat on top. The set was also served with a soy based soup and some high quality side dishes. I must say I loved the generous serving of the squid side dish. We had the beef set and the beef was delicious and very tender. By the end of the meal there was a nice crisp of the grilled rice at the base of the hot bowl. The set felt very deluxe and surprising I felt it was worth the price! We also ordered a sharing serving of steamed pork which was not too fatty, soft and tender. Once again the sides were amazing here!! Overall great new addition to Springvale. Prices are premium but also matches the quality.
Update to review: downgrade from 5 star to 3 star. To follow up the review - have returned several times. The service has been disappointingly sloppy having to go to the counter to order on multiple occasions. I was most let down with the ginseng chicken soup. The chicken was severely overcooked to the point where the bones broke apart into the soup. Essentially I was eating a chicken bone soup with degenerated chicken bone bits. Very difficult and unpleasant to eat. To make things worse the stuffed rice in the chicken was cold! Extremely...
Read moreI was craving some Korean food and decided to try out Yoon’s Grill in Springvale. They have a variety on their menu and we decided to have some sets and a couple of sharing dishes.
We had: Kimchi pancake ($18) - It was filling and the pancake itself was packed with flavour and was very crispy. Snowing cheese fried chicken ($23) - The chicken was crispy and juicy and the cheese and a sweetness to it. This came with the side dishes and some normal picked radishes on the side. Steamed egg ($12) - Fluffy and had good flavour, it cut the spice of our food. Kimchi soup set ($18 + $5) - I upgraded my normal white rice to sotbap rice because I like the crispy rice at the end. The kimchi soup was pretty good, it wasn’t too spicy so it was very easy to handle. Beef steak sotbap set ($30) - This came with a soup that changes between seasons. My partner had this one and had no complaints, he said it was pretty good and he liked it. Spicy pork belly sotbap set ($28) - Spicy pork belly for those who are keen on some spicyyy food, it has 3 chillis and also comes with a soup on the side. All of these sets came with 4 side dishes which are changed according to seasonal availability.
We really enjoyed our food there, it did take a while to come out but the food was tasty and worth...
