Every year I wait for Ramadan to have Iftar buffet at Ziyka because it’s always so good! This was my first experience at the Broadmeadows branch and it was the worst one so far! All dishes were empty and most of them didn’t get refilled after a while. The place was so congested that women couldn’t even get food as there were men everywhere who wouldn’t make way for you.
Also, the starters didn’t get refilled even for once! All starters were gone in first few minutes. Dessert wasn’t enough either. They lie about the number of dishes - there were 4-5 starters and 6 main courses and just 3 desserts. Even though there were very few dishes, they couldn’t even manage refilling those so we couldn’t even try 30% of the food there. There was no discipline, no control and the place was a total mess!
Some desi restaurants in Melbourne let women have food first - Ziyka should follow the same strategy! I didn’t see any woman getting up to get food because men wouldn’t give way to anyone.
Very disappointing experience! The staff is nice but what’s the point of their niceness when you don’t get what you pay for!
Update: Went to Ziyka for breakfast buffet on Saturday and once again I had the worst experience! My family was visiting from another state and we all had high hopes for the buffet. We got there little before 1pm and the buffet ends at 2pm. All dishes were empty! They took forever to bring puris and would only bring 2-3 puris at a time when there were 8 of us! Refused to fill the dishes as they said the food would get ‘wasted’ as the buffet was ending in an hour! We paid the full price for a complete buffet experience, not for empty dishes! This time the management was even worse than before, the staff wasn’t even sorry for the service that they provided! Ziyka Broadmeadows is a disappointment and I’m never giving it another chance! Lygon street one is amazing even though it’s...
Read moreI am writing this review for the second time because my previous one was delayed. Unfortunately, my experience with this restaurant has been very disappointing. The staff seems completely unorganized and unaware of how to properly handle customer orders.👎👎
I tried calling the restaurant several times about half an hour before placing my order, but no one even answered the phone. When I finally got through, I placed a takeaway order under the name Bilal. They told me it would take around 20–25 minutes, so I arrived at the restaurant after about 30 minutes.👎👎
When I reached, they asked me to wait as my order was “being prepared.” After waiting another 20-25 minutes, I asked again, and the staff told me that the karahi would still take more time. Instead, they suggested I either wait longer or change my order to something else.👎👎
This is extremely unprofessional. If an order is placed in advance, the restaurant should ensure it is ready on time. I ended up waiting more than 55 minutes in total (20 minutes outside and another 20 minutes inside) with no proper service or clear communication.
The staff seemed careless, and the overall service was very poor. If the restaurant is busy, there should at least be a proper system to manage orders and inform customers honestly about the wait time instead of wasting...
Read moreWe had Iftar buffet today 29th March, 2025, the last weekend of Ramadan. The food is tasty, but only if you are lucky enough to get hold of it. The restaurant is short of staff, and very slow refilling. Got in the line twice, waited for 10+ minutes every time only to find Bar b q trays are empty again. The restaurant is cramped so as to fit in maximum tables and very less space to move around. I gave used plates to one waitress and she told me to use less plates as they don't have a lot of plates. There was even no food wastage in the plate. How do they expect me to have biryani in the same plate as fruit chaat ? There was no water, asked for water and got a jug, asked twice for water refill, but didn't get it and we left then. The buffet setup is farthest from the kitchen, you go to end of display to get plates, then walk to the other side of the restaurant to get in line and wait for food. I mentioned that to the guy in charge, but he wasn't really bothered. You pay for a buffet to have ambiance, and good service, but both are missing here. We have had iftar buffet on Pakistani restaurants every weekend, but have felt more welcomed and happy at all other places. Ziyka's food may be good, but focus on service also please. Submitting this after talking to the billing person while making payment, he...
