In mid October 2024 I had my 40th birthday celebrations at Oakover Grounds and wow what a great venue! How this place isn't more widely known about its a mystery but then again I am glad it isn't because it would get way too busy then!
I dealt with Donna and she was fantastic as was all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. It was very busy on the day but it didn't stop things from running very smoothly. We had prebooked an area which was the verandah area just for my party, it was very well presented, tables were well spaced out it was clean and comfortable. The cake table was lovely and as an added bonus I was gifted a lovely cake from Oakover Grounds!
The kids had a ball on the free water paddle swan boats. The music was great, the service was fast. The food was delicious, really really good, reasonable portion sizes, hot on arrival and fast clean up afterwards. I am a coeliac and they have a separate fryer so I had a big choice of items to order from which is fantastic!
I couldn't recommend Oakover Grounds enough, the scenery alone is breath taking. A beautiful gem in the Swan Valley.
If I am to be honest I would say the only two negatives were that the menu items could not be changed on the day, example if you didn't want salad on your steak sandwich you couldn't order it without the salad, the kitchen were not taking any customised orders on the day as it was very busy. The only other negative was it was a very hot day and it took the staff over an hour to work out how to turn on the over head fans on the veranda area. But once they were on they made the world of difference for us sitting there.
All round a fantastic venue and I look forward to returning over the summer to enjoy a nice cold drink and some lovely food. I will be sure to look out for and say hello to Donna who was just fabulous at answering my questions in the run up to my party.

We waited at the sign to be seated, a server walked past us, we got ignored. Then got told they will be with us soon while passing us, walking over to a table and doing a rather mundane job by moving glasses around before managing to eventually walk back up and serve us at the door. They couldnāt seem less enthusiastic to have customers walk in.
We could tell it was an inconvenience to have us walk in without a reservation, we were 2 adults, 2 small babies and a child. After the server walked back and forth multiple times we eventually got seated at the āonlyā table available.
Once we were at the table, the waiter says to us, if we want high chairs we can go inside and get it ourselves and if its dirty, we need to go find another staff member to clean it. I was baffled. Where is the customer service? I would never in my life treat a customer with small children like this. Because I personally know what impeccable service looks like, and what I have been trained to do, to whom the manager is, you need to up-skill your staff. Itās not hard to serve and wait on people. Its your job.Go get the chairs, clean them, and pop it at the table for people.
The most unfriendly, unwelcoming feeling. It was such a disappointment as we have had personal problems that have made it difficult to go out. We decided to come out and enjoy a lovely meal somewhere. What an incredible let down this was. We couldn't wait to leave and will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. And side note, there were so many tables available for us to have been seated at as we left after our meal. The lady in the front who was taking the order has got no idea about the menu, was not helpful at all. Initially we decided that that 6 people are going to seat outside to enjoy the view, also we mentioned that in the front.There was no reservation sign on the table 65.We had been served our food outside as well. We almost finished our meal, then a middle aged lady, may be named as Vowel , very disrespectfully started to yell at us saying why you did not confirm with me where to seat. You guys did not reserve earlier so you should have ask me earlier. We got really confused we explain no one so far explained us that there is a problem about where to seat. Isn't that normal the person who takes the order should inform the customer at the begining that we don't take the order without reservation. Then Vowel continued yelling the same rhyme you should ask me at the begining where to seat, because this is my responsibility. How a customer supposed to know who has got what responsibility, isn't that you guys responsibility to let the customer know at the begining when you are taking the order. Also when we were finishing our meal every 15 minutes someone is coming to take our plates, then a lady with an annoying face saying finished , like as if customer might take plates with them.
