On the Border — Restaurant in Mindarie

After seeing reviews and recommendations for this restaurant, I am sad to have to write this. We were seen to our table promptly, our drinks order was taken, and food order. The starter of Quesadilla was tasty. Unfortunately after that it went all down hill. My meal of loaded waffle fries with beef was inedible due to the amount of salt added to it, unfortunately they did not do a check back on our table to see if everything was ok, we did try to catch the eye of the waitress with no success. However the meal being unsatisfactory is not the reason for the review! As the table was being cleared we bought it to the attention of the waitress, who promptly told the Manageress, however after waiting an unacceptable length of time we approached the Manageress, who was at the back chatting to staff! She then came over to us to see if we would like dessert as they would not remove the inedible meal from the bill. We declined and I was then asked if I would like to choose anything else! I did not feel this was a reasonable request as everyone else had eaten their meal. Once we told her we were not asked if our meals were ok she agreed to take the meal off reluctantly, which we thanked her for. She then left to what we thought was to get our bill. After waiting a further 15 minutes we decided to just go to desk to pay, it was here that she became unprofessional, condescending, patronising and disrespectful, using phrases such as “I’m sorry you’ve had such a negative experience” etc, etc, words we had not used. One of the best Mexican feeds I've had in Perth.

The restaurant hosts a fun Mexican theme and incorporates making fun of Donald Trump which added to the positive ambiance.

Walking into the place I noticed almost every table was full, so make sure you book!! After being seated, we heard a happy birthday celebration, and the whole place joined in the sing-along.

Service. I was thinking with the restaurant being packed, we will be ages being served. How wrong I was. Our waitress Fiona did an exceptional job of taking care of our table, nothing was delayed, nothing was to much trouble, and the whole service experience was outstanding.

6 star service; I was contemplating ordered the "Atomic Wings" for an entree. Fiona could tell I was in 2 minds about this so offered to provide the atomic sauce on the side (tick!). While eating the wings, which were delicious (with or without the atomic sauce) Fiona spotting me licking my fingers. She dropped a bunch of napkins in front of me unannounced saying that'll help with the wings (another tick!).

When presented with the bill, I was pleasantly surprised to see a figure less than I was expecting. No "bill shock" which was great!

A family friendly, fun place to have a great feed, with next level service. If this combination could be bottled, I'd order a dozen!!

My wife and I will be taking the kids here for their "Taco Tuesday" ($7 tacos) and we look forward to going here regularly.

Next time I'll grab some photos of the meals and restaurant. All the meals were great portions.

A real gem of a restaurant and a new "regular...

It was a real shame when you are looking forward to trying somewhere that you have heard about for a while and your experience was nothing short of a major disappointment. There were many issues to list but the main ones were little things like no cutlery served with the entree or the main meals, a wait for over an hour after our entree arrived for our main meal, the Lemon Lime and Bitters Drinks we ordered would have to be the worst I have ever drunk. No flavour and just full of ice. To pay $3 plus for those drinks was a joke. The entrees were nice enough but the main meals were very poor. Our friends mains were served before ours and we had to wait another 10 minutes until ours arrived. By then their meals were cold and ours were ordinary. We ordered enchiladas with chicken and regular cheese with rice and salad. The enchiladas were tasteless and cold, the rice was watery and no taste and the salad was an afterthought. For serving Mexican food you would expect at least some taste or flavour, unfortunately this was not the case. We had no problem with the staff who were under extreme pressure due to the number of customers but when you pay good money for a meal you should at least have something palatable to eat. My wife and I both left our meals which was disappointing and when we were asked by the Manager (we think it was him) we told the truth on how we felt about the meal.
