Moonta is one of the main Copper Triangle towns, so whether you visit here for the Cornish history, are touring, or just passing through, do yourself a favour and try a Cornish Pasty! I'm sure the rest of the pastries and other offerings at The Cornish Kitchen are great, but I will never find out - these are seriously the BEST Cornish Pasties that you will find anywhere (I'm reliably informed they're better that those in Cornwall)
The pastry is flakey and not too thick. No great big ends or top join of dry pastry to work your way through. The filling had so many great old fashioned veggies to add to the taste. And these pasties are FULL, the baker must have years of practice to get so much filling in without tearing the pastry case.
Were I to rate this Cornish Pasty it would need to get a a 11 out of 10 - perfect plus one for the friendly staff.
I would have added a photo, but it disappeared...
Read moreThe Cornish pasty us absolutely delicious, should try it with the tomato relish, it takes the pasty to the level of deliciousness. Meat pie is super tasty, really nice flavour. The bakery is open 7 day a week and from memory I think it closes around 2pm. It is a quaint establishment which caters for people who want Takeaway food as well as those who would like to sit in the dining area and savour the delicacies and learn about the history of the copper coast from the images/paintings and photos on the walls. Why not just drop in for a coffee and cake when you are out shopping. Its all delicious. Every time I go to Moonta. I will drop in and have a Cornish pasty or pie to eat in, and when leaving, buy at least 2 cold pasties and 2 pies to take back...
Read moreEveryone said if we ever went to Moonta we should have a Cornish pastry, so we did and I had a very large vanilla slice to satisfy my sweet tooth. You can normal tomato sauce or homemade sauce. You can eat in or takeaway. There aren't only pie's and pastrie, you can order rolls to your liking. There are cold drinks or coffee if you are thirsty. There are no toilets, but there is a park nearby. Disabled people would be able to enter the premises as it is a flat floor. The girl was very fast and efficient. If you are lucky, you can park out front, but it gets very busy around lunchtime. There was no one at 11.30, but time we had finished our lunch the place was packed and very noisy as it is a wooden floor.
