Good service, reasonable food, mango lassie was a little sweet.. but the deal breaker was the door bell/beeper they have. It's very loud, and continually beeps if someone is standing in the doorway. By the end of the meal service, my partner and I's ears were hurting and we were tempted to leave the restaurant halfway through our meals just because of it. I almost got up to walk across the room and switch it off, but my politeness got the better of me. Would recommend the restaurant for westerners as some nice indian food. For Indians, or people who love authentic Indian food, it'll miss the boat a bit (it's westernised indian food). Also, in terms of spice level, there's mild, medium and spicy. We had medium and found there was only the mildest amount of spice in the curry, so if you like your spice, or if you're addicted to it, get spicy or possibly request extra extra spicy! :) But until that door beeper is fixed/removed, bring ear plugs.
FURTHER DISAPPOINTMENT! I initially wrote the above while finishing off my dessert, afterwhich I got up to pay, and found a piece of paper stuck to the register saying 10% surcharge on public holidays. Being that today was Boxing Day, we had to pay it. Nowhere on the menu does it say anything about the surcharge, nor did a waitress tell us, nor was it printed on the entrance. That's downright ILLEGAL. Sure you have to pay staff more, but there are legal requirements you have to follow in order to...
Read moreWe are locals and this is our go to restaurant when we feel like Indian food, dine in or takeaway. We tried Aloo Tiki for the first time with a refreshing mint sauce that cut through the savoury heaviness of the potato and lentil patties very nicely. The lentils create a lovely crust that can’t be done with regular flour, we will order this again. For mains I ordered Dal Tadka hot. I am not vegetarian but really enjoyed this dish, it had just the right amount of spice with great flavours. Texture was good, thick consistency but lentils still had some shape. My partner ordered beef mushroom masala which is a favourite of hers, it met her liking once again. Personally I prefer to order my Indian food with other proteins as I think that’s what many years of recipe development have been spent on, but the flavours did match the meat less commonly eaten in that part of the world quite well. Our garlic naan and roti were both fitting with our choices, it’s up to you if want thin and crispy roti, or thicker fluffy naan with your meal. We can recommend that either one is a good choice to make. Saffron rice had nice colour and was also fluffy, not too wet and...
Read moreAte here whilst on holiday. Giving credit where it's due, the food was decent, aromatic and tasty. Reasonable prices. However, only giving one stars because of the horrible service we received. When ordering the waitress could not really give an indication of naan portion sizes which lead to us ordering a second round to which waitress said "that's it" indicating we couldn't order more. Being a group of 7 we needed more food and when we ordered more food we were explicitly told by the waitress we couldn't order any more because she had to serve other tables. She then hovered around our table clearing dishes whilst we were still eating. The kids had been soo excited to try Indian dessert but after being told we couldn't order any more we left without it. Later we rang to notify the manager of the poor service but she wasn't very interested and excused the waitresses behaviour saying it's covid times and there's a staff shortage. This would be totally acceptable if the restraunt was actually busy, but there was only one other table occupied (by friends of the manager)! We have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant and would not recommend going...
