Stopped for a meal whilst travelling through. Decor is an interesting blend of modern, open, casual bistro downstairs at back, and traditional dining room upstairs near kitchen. Menu was varied - all the pub favorites like burgers, parmagiana, steak and pizza, plus pasta dishes and salads. Prices were reasonable. We had the penne pasta with carbonara sauce, and a steak burger with blue cheese sauce. Both were excellent, the pasta particularly so. The servings were huge, so we took half the pasta home to feed us the next day🙂. It would have been a 5 star experience except for the time it took getting the food. Service was slow, just on 60 minutes between ordering and getting the meals, on a Wednesday night that wasn't all that busy was just too long. It would be a great idea to have a sign indicating the expected wait time so customers can make an informed choice as to whether to order or not. We recommend eating here, but do come...
Read moreNice little pub which is about half way between Sydney and Tamworth. On the day we went, there was ample seating which was comfortable and appropriately spaced to meet COVID guidelines. The hotel itself has a bit of history, and it's heritage is visible in it's fascade and pub section.
The restaurant staff were very pleasant, and the ordering process was straightforward; they give you a buzzer which rings when the food is ready. The wait was a bit on the longer side ~20-25 minutes, but this is to be expected when they're making the dishes from scratch. I ordered the pasta costing around 25 dollars which was delicious, in a decent portion size.
I would definitely recommend this place for someone happy to spend some quality with family/friends over a longer meal. The only thing to keep in mind is that it's probably isn't best suited for travelers wanting a...
Read moreI went to have dinner, I ordered one of the specials, which was a pulled brisket nachos, the menu board said it had guacamole and sour cream. I was very excited... I was given the buzzer to pick it up. When the buzzer buzzed I went to pick it up and they said there was no guacamole and no sour cream. So I asked what they were going to do, they practically said: “nothing” and shrugged their shoulders. I guess you could say they apologised, but it felt more like: “Suck it up, buttercup”. Well the plate didn’t look that bad, but it really was that bad. It was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a long time. I’m not a...
