Food was good - which was expected as cafe looked quite nice and well established with its fit out.
While visiting the cafe with my mum, we obsereved that the staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming, unmotivated and rude, With mostly younger girls behind counter and maning tables they were unaware of general customer service skills (kindness & friendliness).I had expected more from a small coastal cafe.
I also witnessed an altercation with a local business owner who had decided to close her doors for 10/15 mins while visting the cafe for lunch - she was told her order would take 10 mins. When arriving back she was greeted with an abrubt “its not ready yet” by a waitress. The lady then waited a little longer. followed by a 1:1 conversation from that waitress which I was not able to make out. She then felt disrespected by the young waitress so asked for a refund due to food taking a long time and being disrespected (which is correct). The owner (purple hair) of the cafe then chimed in stateing “well you were warrened it would take 10mins” unwillingly pulling money from the till. After the scene the owner then said “see you again… never” under her breathe as the customer walked out the door, she then went on to ask her staff if they knew what shop she owned.
Very unprofessional for the cafe to be treating and speaking to customers in this way + very awkward for customers in the cafe. This is my first and last time visiting Benny’s in...
Read morePopped in for some breakfast on Jan 2. Understandably the staff were smashed and did warn us about a half hour wait on food (which ended up being around 45 mins). We weren’t pressed for time so didn’t mind the wait.
There was a lady with brown hair/short pixie cut - bit blunt at the register but understandable given the crowd of people. There was also only one cook who was cooking all patrons meals (roughly 30-35 seated). I was honestly so impressed at his calm demeanour! Well done mate!
The food was fine. I take no issue with that. My concern is the lady with the brown pixie cut hair. She definitely set the vibe of the cafe. I am understanding of the fact it was very busy, however she was very rude to younger staff and multiple times indirectly saying out loud “were getting smashed”, “we’re the only place open in town” etc. It doesn’t set a great vibe for patrons who are patiently waiting and understand that it is busy. We sympathise with you - but don’t make your customers feel guilty just because you’re busy.
I am willing to I give this place another go but that lady needs to learn how to cope under pressure and treat younger staff with more kindness. It is unpleasant as a patron if you see a supervisor/boss treating their...
Read moreThought our family would support local business on trip to the area today. Yes, we waited way too long for our small order….when only 2 other tables of a few people when we walked in….but we weren’t in a rush. My issue was the attitude of the staff…and now reading through prior reviews can see this goes back for years. Thought I was spoken to abruptly when ordering, but brushed it off…..then witnessed someone else being disgracefully spoken to, when their takeaway order was taking too long and they asked for a refund. Talk about embarrassing someone, and making a spectacle for all the rest of us dining in, it was disgraceful. And then hearing the older lady/assume owner verbally attacking the lady, then saying under her breath “see you next time, never “ as the upset lady left. None of the staff had a smile, or were friendly. Customer service should be everything. Will never go back. Gave 1 out 5 as...
