We drove to Copacabana to find this bakery, as the Long Jetty shop closed down. And, fortunately, from Copacabana, a trail leads to the Buddi coastal walk. I need my energy "shot" before a long walk...cakes and pastry of this bakery work miracles and I can walk for 20 km with no problems...without needing any food... The bakery at Copacabana is just lovely. Near the beach, a few tables where families and pensioners can relax and breathe the salty air. It embodies much of the relaxed Australian way of enjoying a week-end morning.Good coffee, friendly chats, smiling kids, birds, sea, a clear blue sky. I bougt a Portuguese tart and a slice of layered cake, which looked like a Hungarian dobos, but had another name. Thin layers of sponge cake interlayered with a nutty, honeyed flavoured cream in between. It was light and filling at the same time. Just the boost of energy needed. Then off we went, from the beach all the way south to Putti Beach and return plus some detours to see the amazing views. I commend the owners of Burnt Honey Bakery for providing superb cakes and pastry. It seems as if they devote time to find new recipes to offer us and explore. I wish ...next time ...I'll find the dobos. In Hungary the art of baking cakes is superb. Maybe it can find its way to...
Read moreThis little bakery is amazing. You absolutely must go if you’re nearby. It’s a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with owners who are genuinely good nice people, and it’s honestly well priced for homemade high quality food like this.. Everything is freshly made by them (as opposed to being bought from a distributor), with high quality ingredients, and lots of love. We got a Flag Biscuit (proceeds go to my good friend’s organisation Deadly Connections here in Sydney), a Brie, Quince, and Rosemary Bun, and a Copa Queen. The Flag biscuit was a nice, crisp, crumbly sugar cookie type of biscuit. It’s the perfect biscuit to have on the side of a coffee. The Bun was insanely good though. It was a nice, soft, and not-too-dense bun with high quality soft Brie, a very tasty quince jam, and a few sprigs of rosemary that pushed into 10/10 territory. The Copa Queen was beautiful too. It tastes like a Palmier, but had a softer croissant-like texture. Breaking it apart you could hear the crispy sugar layer cracking. Ah man, I’m hungry again! These ladies know what they’re doing, and they’re really good at it! I would rate this a 10 out of 5. Don’t miss out...
