Came here for lunch on Easter Sunday. Was told by the waitress that they were short staffed due to covid, so food might be delayed. Completely understandable. To our delight the first of our tapas came out quite quick, the chorizo croquettes. After waiting approximately 45 minutes after the first dish came out, and having a few pints each the roasted cauliflower came out. Another 15 minutes after our that, the chimchurri steak came out. We were obviously disappointed with the wait, but with covid we were a bit understanding. However the quality of the food was just terrible. The croquettes were bland, the best thing about them was the accompanying relish. The âroastedâ cauliflower was also bland, tasted like it was boiled as it was mushy and had no colour, and you couldnât taste the dukkah or coriander it was supposed to be seasoned with. Lastly the chimchurri âsirloinâ steak was horrid. For $20 we were expecting more than a rubbery and bland minute steak. The beers that werenât made there were the best part of our meal. If we didnât get the awful cauliflower taken off the bill Iâd be...
Read moreDecided to try something different, somewhat local but not quite. I had seen this when I was dog-sitting in the area and wanted to go back and try. The service was great, the young lady was lovely. The food we ordered was different than Mexican I had had before. Prawn Tostadas were very nummy and prawns had a unique coating. The regular nachos had plenty of avocado, sour cream and beans however lacked some guso. A bit bland, no cilantro or lime and not alot of cheese. I thought maybe they would have had some South American music playing but no. Maybe I got the type of of cantina wrong The food was good but it was different to what I thought it might be. Would I go back? Yes but not with expectations of Mexico or South America. Nice spot by the ocean and prices are reasonable and loved by...
Read moreWent here on a Saturday night. Ordered the marinated octopus, patatas bravas, crispy pork belly, sirloin, garlic prawns. Firstly the post mix cola that I ordered tasted horrid, not sure what off brand is being used but it's definitely not Coca cola or Pepsi. The tapas started out within about 10-15 minutes of ordering which was good.
Marinated octopus- bland, tasted of lemon and charcoal.
Patatas bravas- potatoes were not crispy or even cooked all the way though.
"Crispy" pork belly- the skin was far from being crispy, although it did taste quite good with the cauliflower puree.
Sirloin- no complaints with this, tasted great, cooked to medium rare as asked
Garlic prawns- overcooked and the sauce which they were in tasted as if it could have come from a jar...
