Cabarita Beach Hotel — Restaurant in New South Wales

I went there yesterday and had the worst experience with the food. Me and my family always go there to have some beers at the bar, but yesterday was actually the first time we ate there. We ordered an entree, 2 mains and a side dish. The mains arrived before the entree.

Then, one of the mains I ordered, a “Murray River Black Angus Rib Fillet” was completely overcooked (I ordered it medium rare) and well done. And the meat was tough and dry. Unfortunately I had to send back, as that was not what I ordered for $45. Then I had to wait for another steak to be cooked, while my partner was having his food and my side of mash potato was getting cold. I waited patiently as I know that mistakes can happen. My “new” steak arrived on the table and for my surprise, it was again overcooked. Dry, tough, and the fat was raw. And by the way that cut of meat looked like and tasted, I honestly don’t think it was a “black angus” rib fillet. It was a piece a rock.

The side of mash potato was grainy, floury and tasted weird, probably made from instant mash and not real potatoes. My partner’s food was okay, but made him sick during the night 😞 I spent $112 on a lunch that does not worth that and came home hungry, as couldn’t eat anything. The staff was embarrassed and kept me offering a free desert, which given the circumstances, I declined as all I wanted was to leave that place. I found out that the owners were on the table next to us, but they didn’t bother to do anything. I’m all about supporting locals, but I’ll never go back there. What a bad...

What a disappointment! It was our daughter's birthday and she choose this place as we frequented it when the kids were younger so she has many good memories. Drove from Byron Bay, so 40mins or so. Food was terrible, 3 of us didn't even manage to eat half of our meals, including my daughter. She was SO upset that her special dinner was ruined. Her meat was dry and lacked taste, the pork dish was just pure mush! I thought that it was just a fatty part of pork and i would soon 'hit' the meaty part.. the entire piece was the same. I didn't want to ruin the experience so said nothing but then hubby put his knife and fork down, as in he was finished, and I asked him if everything was ok and he then said his meat was mush.. so it wasn't just my serving. Even the crackling was soft, not crispy at all. The waitstaff came to clear the table (clearly we had not eaten our meals) and I told her that the food was inedible and she just asked if we were finished and took the plates. It's almost like it didn't register or perhaps they don't know how to respond but this should be part of their training. Will not return. Money is tight for us so wasting $150 on an inedible dinner is not something...

Just Disaster OMG Saturday 29/10/2022 at about 15:45 did my order of salt and pepper Calamari I was charged $18.00 dollars until that not a problem at all, but for a simple order with place not busy at all they take 27 min for that order, and then big surprise and I open the take way box as u can see by the picture $18 dollars for literally 5 strips of calamari is just disaster for that price OMG. Just ask for the manager if that size was right for what I paid, he went inside with the calamari and put more salad then I fell so much better. 😂😂😂. So funny the place are not busy at all. To make a simple calamari 27-30min and the size is kids meal but was charged adults meal. Tell what you fell about the price of that calamari???. Do not recommend to anyone. I mean I wasn’t looking for a cheap meal I really don’t mind to pay over $50 $100 bucks for decent meal usually for beach front club. But $18 dollars for 5 strips of calamari I just unfair.
