This was our first visit to Harbour Thai - and our last! We arrived at 730pm for dinner. One of our party was running about 10 minutes late. We chatted for a couple of minutes as we looked at the menu. During this time we were approached twice to get our orders in. A gimmicky drone robot s-l-o-w-l-y drives the food, following a waitress holding a torch for it to follow. It gets stuck on the lip of the doorway between the indoor and outdoor area, begging the question, why bother with it. Our food arrived and it was standard Thai food. Nothing special. Then the waitress started taking plates away as soon as they were emptied. Nothing too odd about that, I suppose, except ai could see that she was somewhat frustrated. I was guessing we were getting the hurry up. We asked if we could finish our bottle of wine and was told it was ok. No sooner had we poured the wine, another waitress returned and said “excuse me, we are closing soon”. We pointed out that we had just asked if we could finish the wine”. She just walked away. A few minutes later the angry waitress started taking glasses away as soon as there was only a skerrick left in the bottom of the glass. She then went to take a glass that was half full and my friend mentioned “oh, I haven’t finished that yet”, to which she barked “We Closed!” We had already paid our $158 bill and tipped $20 which I now regret for such...
Read moreThe Good: Harbour Thai came highly recommended by locals, and it’s easy to see why. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. The location is also a standout, with lovely views overlooking the beach that make for a relaxing dining atmosphere. Despite a busy Australia Day long weekend, the staff did manage to seat us promptly even though our online booking wasn’t on the list.
Room for Improvement: Service was unfortunately a bit off during our visit. Drinks took 25 minutes to arrive (with one missing altogether), and food took even longer. One dish never arrived at all, and we had to explain the situation at the pay desk to have it removed from the bill. Understandable given the fully booked capacity on a public holiday weekend, but it did affect the overall experience.
Would I Return? Yes — I’d love to come back on a quieter weekend to enjoy the food and views without the holiday chaos.
The Verdict: A scenic and flavourful spot in Shellharbour that shines with its food and location. Worth a revisit when things aren’t...
Read moreI went there on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant looked over crowded over booked! The food & service was absolutely terrible. We sat there for 30mins with a bottle of water with no glasses & no service!! We couldn’t catch a waiter to serve us because they were all running around like crazy. When I finally flagged one down we ordered our drinks & food. One hour later they brought out the drinks with only one entree. I couldn’t believe it. Still couldn’t get their attention. So we waited another 20mins for the other entree. I ordered prawn TomYum soup but it came without prawns. I called them out on it, they took it away as the took it away the other waiter brought our mains i was beside my self, absolute disaster. I cancelled the entree. My main dish was so sweet I couldn’t eat it, so much sugar. I was insulted when They offered me ice cream for my troubles. I was shock! I said no, bring me a cocktail please, the waiter ignored & walked away. My only regret is that I’ve should’ve demanded my money back! absolutely unacceptable...
