Unfortunately very low quality ingredients, cooking methods and recipes.

The edamame was microwaved and tasted just like it...dry and separated (it needs to be steamed).

The assorted sashimi was average and made up of 2/3 salmon.

Bao buns had no love or complexity to them. The coleslaw was from a packet mix, and overall very bland.

The waitress was lovely and pleasant, so the service was nice.

But if you want great Japanese, this ain't it unfortunately.

*Edit to respond to the business reply: My experience was what it was and in no way misleading. I have had FANTASTIC sushi/Japanese in the Illawarra (as well as interstate and Japan) and this restaurant was not comparable. I hope my feedback can assist you in improving your business for customers to try and want to return to. As I will not be returning based in my experience...

Went on Monday lunch for a small family birthday (2 adults and 1 kid). We were the only ones in there but still had to ask for table water and go to the counter to order the food (the next people in were served at their table). The server took the menu out of my hands while I was having a look over. We got a salmon Bento box each... which didn't have a lot of fish in it. It didn't really taste fresh either. If you are eating sushi at a restaurant, you would expect proper chopsticks, not the horrible disposable ones. The baby rolls in the Bento box were egg for some unknown reason, and it was so chewy and rubbery that I had to spit it out into a napkin. The birthday boy could only eat half the meal because it wasn't nice. It was so disappointing for the money we spent. Definitely sticking to Moon Sushi just...

5 Star Quality as far as food goes!! The food was beautiful, so fresh, and extremely well presented and professional for a little local sushi place. The layout of the restaurant isn’t ideal for dine-in sushi, instead more of a homely-cafe vibe due to the vintage style building and the carpet tiles. It felt quite cleanly and well kept, however it was really squishy and that was with not many customers dining at the time (not super ideal for pram-ers). Staff were friendly and polite but could have intervened during the meal as we had to get up multiple times to ask for things.
